Hmmm, £50 for a FS! I defo won’t be OC’ing

My issue is that’s about £6-£10 less than manta or weet and their prices are 35% because of shipping. The reason I like the universal / WB collectors editions is because they are under £40 if you use a code. And shipping is free. If you took away the shipping on a Manta (or any premium) it’s roughly the same as those collectors editions. Which makes complete sense to me and worth the price.

I know the rigid slips don’t have the best finish but the prices for these just don’t add up to me. Is that £49.99 + shipping? Because I fully expect that to be free if I’m buying in the U.K. for that price.

Basically this film will be hard to do right if the approval process is tough. So the steelbook has to be f**king good art and I really need something epic and moody like that Nick Charge art on a full slip for me to bite and pay those prices inside the U.K. where I live. So if these cost the same as a company from Hong Kong or China who have been in this game a long time and a big chunk of that cost is because it’s coming from another country across the world then they need to be the same quality as those. I don’t own Lone Survivor so I can’t say if the quality is the same as the top boys who technically charge less. And this is also the reason I never got any EB editions. Prices never seemed right even though you got quite a lot with them
49.99 inc UK shipping. (Lone survivor was 44.99)

If I GB a manta release it's generally £68

For a WEA premium steelbook release with the quality of finishing that's on offer is more than a competitive price imo.

I think it's unfair to compare the decrease in cost on a universal release due to a HMV code that might not stay around forever.
Besides there's a strong possibility these will be in hmv.

Not really sure what doesn't add up for you. Most 4k steelbooks on there own of late have been around £34.99.

The finishing on the last release was far superior to a standard UK studio release and absolutely on par if not better in my humble opinion then some offerings overseas.

Fac were charging almost £90 a slip and CM still isn't far off that now.

The OC will be roughly £20-40 less then elsewhere also.,

One persons thoughts on what it will take for them to spend on each release will differ from one to the next, I'm personally happy with the pricing and if you can support it that's great, if you can't thats also not an issue. I'm just trying to bring affordable "premium" physical media editions to the UK market that can compete in quality to those overseas.

Ignore him mate. I already more-or-less explained the pricing to him in a PM... he's just being a tight, sulky little biotch as usual.

He'll still want to order it come pre-order day, but he doesn't deserve to own it now, so just blacklist him from purchasing any future Astro releases please.

Ahh, throw @Flloydo a couple of quid to cover the extra @Noodles ,we'll all be happy then, it's Christmas

Flloydo. The whole package is an extra step up in quality from the EB releases imo. Better all round and for a touch cheaper than the EB sets were . The steelbooks alone on those EB sets were pretty mediocre held up against Lone Survivors.

I won't be going down that rabbit hole

My choices won't be for everyone and unfortunately in the UK it's so hard to get the licensing, so to have what I've had so far has been a huge achievement for me

The main goal from the outset with this line was to bring more premium sets to movies that don't have them or have an old one that I felt could do with freshening up, I certainly don't intend to release anything that's been done over and over again.

It's been noted mate. If he does order and I can't use Nick's image, I have already have it printed out on some kraft paper, I can apply that to the front of his FS with a personalized note

Annihilation is a great choice in my opinion. I was sort of hoping for Lost in Translation after reading the description of "culty film that only had one hard-to-find previous Steelbook", but Annihilation is in the same league for me. I'll never forget watching it for the first time and being stunned with that trippy ending and the Moderat track. Definitely down for a OneClick!

Thank you!

I over hyped it on my first watch , but went back to it and fell in love with the movie. The cinematography and audio score are fantastic.

LIT would be cool!

This was actually the third pick of 4 original titles I was going to run with! Truman being one and the other two unfortunately couldn't be pushed forward now, maybe in the future.

He's probably the richest person on here... he's one of those fake hobos that sit on the streets all day collecting people's hard earned cash, then gets in his Bentley and drives back to his mansion to admire his array of premium editions that he pretended he wasn't going to buy because they were too expensive.

Well yeah but a GB will cost you more. I don’t GB manta. Direct price I’m talking about.

Fair enough
I think it's unfair to compare the decrease in cost on a universal release due to a HMV code that might not stay around forever.

Well tbf to be pedantic I can usually get a zavvi code to work too and I’m an RC member so there’s always a discount. Wasn’t speaking just of HMV. I think everything especially in the U.K. is over priced and I can’t say I pay full price ever bar the odd thing. So it would be weird for me to not mention £50 is a lot for a boutique label who’s only had one release and I’m yet to see evidence if the final product is any good. There’s reasons why I’ve said what I said. You’re a new seller. Of course I have doubts. I can’t just jump on your d!ck like some people can after a mediocre release… to put it bluntly

Not really sure what doesn't add up for you. Most 4k steelbooks on there own of late have been around £34.99.
This is true unfortunately but that don’t mean I agree with those prices. And pretty much never pay them

The finishing on the last release was far superior to a standard UK studio release and absolutely on par if not better in my humble opinion then some offerings overseas.
That’s good to know. But remember I’ve not bought from you and I was less than impressed with lone survivor so I can’t speak for how the finish is which is why I voice my concerns and I’ve pretty much stated previously if it’s worth it I don’t mind supporting. But it has to be worth it and LS didn’t seem worth it to me. I really don’t know what else to say about that if I’m honest. I’m certainly allowed to and going to question the price. Nearly every thread here someone questions the price of an item

Fac were charging almost £90 a slip and CM still isn't far off that now.
Again I never paid those prices for FAC because they were sh!t and stupidly over priced. Only editions I bought were around when they started when it was roughly £35-£40 shipped to the U.K. per edition (John wick, birdman). So I can’t really say much with that example because you’re barking up the wrong tree with me and Film Arena. I f**king hate them lol

They got greedy and kept increasing. And then look what happened to them (not comparing them to you by the way, just you mentioned them)

CM again I’m very vocal on how Carlos is a scumbag who over charges, steals money and makes you wait 10 years to get a product in which your not allowed to get a refund. Supported him once to see if he was any good. And that’s the only time I will support him. So barking up the wrong tree with me and that example again.

I openly have said people are mugs for paying his prices and supporting him

And that’s fair enough. My messages and concerns are because I need to see evidence of that. If you’re saying this will be better than LS then great. As long as I think the art is good I’ll support. Simple as that. And that’s when I’ll decide if it’s worth £50 or not. I look forward to the beauty shots

WOW!

We’ve spoke about millions of things in PMs/ texting that I’ve also spoke about publicly… and a lot of things we haven’t spoke of publicly that I’m more than willing to share with the rest…. :naughty:

Urgh, that sounds weird. No we ain’t sleeping together
