Koch Media has lined up a six disc (!!!) Ultimate Edition of Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness for release 26th April

Details are sketchy at the moment but sources reveal that the following will be included

The FULL Director's Cut (sourced from the same print that MGM used on their Hong Kong DVD release with the missing shots absent from the US DVD. No VHS sourced extra footage here!)

The US Theatrical Version

The European Theatrcial Version (differs slightly from the US one)

and the rare Extended TV Version (containing additional footage not seen on ANY home video verson!!!)

Had a quick flick through the DC and IMO it looks great! Nice and grainy (which I like), but I'm very very impressed!

Also had a quick look at the US TV cut, even though it's fullscreen and DVD quality again it looked great! Gonna have to give the DC cut a watch first and then the TV cut to see what is different :D

I finally got mine....and while the pq is better than my previous blu-ray it's only dolby digital 2.0 (lossy) on all versions......whyyy? Hoped this really would be the "ultimate edition".

Mustn't have looked hard enough, the Director's Cut definitely has an English DTS-HD-MA 5.1 track.

According to blu-ray.com, there are french subs ? Is it correct ?
No. Only the French release has French subs.

Thanks. It was well hidden. It doesn't show on the packaging, and you can't select it from the menu. I didn't think to cycle through the audio tracks. . Maybe it really is the ultimate edition.....I think I've bought this title six times on dvd and three times on blu-ray.

FYI Army of Darkness was actually mixed in Stereo so technically what your getting is the original audio as intended

but yeah, they could of added the 5.1 remix from the DVD (The HK DVD being the best 5.1 mix out there for it)

With the help of sky_captain I was able to find a dts-MA 5.1 on the director's cut.

I know they're lossy, but I prefer the 2.0 mixes. With the exception of the US theatrical cut, which has a proper 5.1 mix, done by Universal, the other cuts have 'faux' 5.1 remixes, (taken the stereo mix and split across the 5.1 channels), and sound awfully hollow, IMO.
