Yes there are. I haven't visited that many sites, unfortunately. Philippi is the site of the first land battle of the Civil War (Battle of Philippi aka The Philippi Races). Harpers Ferry in the Eastern Panhandle has a lot of rich history from that time. It's the site of John Brown's raid on the federal arsenal in 1859. My mother is from Clarksburg, which is where General "Stonewall" Jackson was born. Harpers Ferry and Charles Town are probably my favorite places to visit.
Nice! I was watching the film Gods and Generals the other day, and a lot of it took place in West Virginia, because if in not mistaken Stonewall Jackson taught Strategics at the Military Acadmemy there..
Yes, he did. The Civil War is the reason West Virginia became a state. Much of the state sided with the North. We are sometimes called the "Most northern of the southern states and the most southern of the northern states."
Well, some films that I like regarding the Civil War aren't entirely about the war, they just use it as the background for the story, such as Lincoln, Dances with Wolves, Gone With the Wind, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. I have to agree with you that Gettysburg, Gods & Generals, and Glory are outstanding films pertaining to this subject. I haven't seen The Horse Soldiers; I'll have to check it out sometime.

The South-Central Norwegian Guttersnipe. Just kidding. If velociraptors actually did exist (I assume they did) that would be fun. Dangerous, but fun. Mastodon would be awesome. Caspian or Javan tigers would be cool too.

Haha. Many of the people here are from the country. Some are rednecks, but most are just really nice, do anything for you type of people. Almost everyone is friendly. The population is rather conservative for the most part, but a lot of people vote democrat. However, our democrats are usually different. Most of the population is Christian, but not as radical as you might expect. Although, where I live and work, it's a city and a major college campus, so students tend to be extremely liberal.
My favorite food that originated here is a pepperoni roll. There are several different places/styles to get it, but the best places would be in Morgantown, Clarksburg, or Fairmont. There is a lot of great Italian heritage and therefore food in these areas.
I would love to see the Darth Bane trilogy of the Star Wars legacy literature made into a movie or movies. I'm part-way through the first book now, and I basically know what's to come, and it's a really great story. As I'm reading through it, I keep thinking, "This would be so cool in a movie!" However, in the Star Wars universe, basically anything not part of the movies or two cartoon television shows has been declared S-canon, or secondary canon, as if it technically doesn't count. But that would be my choice.
