So everything is getting re-printed and re-released now?
Was inevitable I suppose, but why they haven't done more of the highest value ones yet, I don't know.

If memory serves (and I like to think I've got a good memory) this was an on-line pre-order exclusive only back in the day. As soon as the release date came round all on-line retailers removed them from sale. So there would probably have been quite a few left in the Fox / Cinram warehouse
Then Amazon did a 1 day deal ages after it was released and everyone was shocked to see it available again and also disappointed that it didn't come with all the extras like t-shirt, survival guide and artcards
Now it reappears again with same barcode and at the same time that a load of other older HMV exclusive turn up having been found at the back of the warehouse and appearing in some stores. Whether this came from Cinram warehouse or HMV warehouse I don't know, but I am doubtful that it is a re-print. Fox have learnt a thing or 2 about good steelbooks over the last year or so and I couldn't imagine they would re-print this artwork with certs, blue banner and all. If they did Avatar again I'd expect they would have improved it

Exactly. There is lots wrong with this steelbook and I cannot believe that they've re-printed it.
I got one today, and my store too looked like it had about 30 of the things. Thanks for the tip-off on this, and had you not made a new thread for it, I probably wouldn't have noticed it 
This is the first 'old' steelbook I have, being a fairly new collector, and it's nice to see how far steelbooks have come lately, and because of this, I too doubt this is a reprint.

There's about 20 plus Avatar steelbooks in HMV, Princes Street, Edinburgh. £9.99. Saw them there this evening.
i don't believe these are reprints my local HMV had about 15 instore on the shelves some with dings/dents and some, you could easily see small scratches underneth the strink wrap on some. I'm still glad i got one though and for a good price, it may not be the German 3D one that I want but it will do for now.

Just a quick point but when you buy them in HMV they'll run them across a scanner to deactivate the security strip by shaking them. One of the copies I bough today has scratches. I can see them through the seal. Don't know if this was the assistant or whether they were there before and have been resealed by the manufacturers for sale again (The seal is still intact). Seems odd that so many are appearing. I'd give them a good going over before buying if you're fussy about that kind of thing.
