Well that’s obviously what it will be but I somehow still don’t believe it. Watching all the footage now and I dunno something don’t seem right. But if true then yeah he will defo be a variant

I’d rather see Doom done correctly and not a Stark variant

If RDJ was coming back then it should have been in a smaller role as Stark himself

Only one person from the MCU should have came back if they were going this route actor wise for Doom and that’s Mads Mikkelsen

Personally though it should have been a brand new actor altogether

Really hoping this Doom is just a stepping stone and the real Doom kills him for future appearances.

Let's see how this will turn out. Could become a full circle moment (if it's a tony stark variant). The guy who sacrificed his life to save the universe, now tries to destroy it.
Obviously it could also just turn out to be bad, and leave us wishing for a regular Dr. Doom. Maybe we will even get both, this variant and then the "real" Dr. Doom from the sacred timeline.

Anyway, I'm excited for the MCU again. Not because RDJ is back, but becaue people start to speculate again, people are curious about what will happen and start to exchange ideas. That's what gave the MCU the extra exciting touch for me. I'm looking forward to the upcoming movies and post credit scenes again.
I missed this feeling for the MCU and I'm glad this brings it back for me.

We’re in the world of variants and multiverses in the MCU. We’ve already had actors play variants or different one off characters in Multiverse of madness (illuminati), the marvels (end credit scene), deadpool and wolverine (go watch the film). This won’t invalidate iron man’s death in End Game because he’s playing a completely different character just like it don’t to Logan in deadpool wolverine because he’s a different version. Everyone wanted RDJ back to save the MCU…. You got him

Were going from actors playing a variant or different character for just one performance or a fan service quick cameo to an actor playing a completely different character in a whole film and probably more times over time. This is the comics now. Welcome to the world of Marvel films actually being like the comics….. which is apparently all anyone wants

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't RDJ charged and convicted of assaulting his partner at least twice and multiple drug felonies back in the day?
Hollywood is bonkers. The whole world is peppered with rafts of double standards and pc wokeness, it's utterly hilarious now.
I'm all for second chances and forgiveness ( I'm an old school liberal - in age and ideology, definitely not a new generation ultra woke), I hate cancel culture; why then was Majors not afforded the same courtesy?
It's bizarre and sad.

Majors' trial and sentencing was in the last 12 months, Downey struggled with drug addiction (which does not involve harming anyone but himself, btw) for nearly two decades, and spent a good 5 years being nearly unemployed until Kiss Kiss Bang Bang really pulled him out of the hole.
If you want Majors to receive the same (Hollywood) treatment as RDJ, he should self-reflect and go off-the-grid for a good 5 years and maybe we'll revisit his career prospects in 2030.
(and he's already booked his next gig with Villenueve's brother or something)

Downey Jr. is just 'too big' to be canceled, just like Dave Chapelle, or J.K. Rowling.
Opinions of both of whom I wholly support.

It's not who's right, it's who got more rights, or a bigger hole to shout out from, and not just in Hollywood.
Plus it's not the 90's anymore, as you've noted yourself.

I was merely commenting on the ridiculousness of Hollywood and the cultish nature of the modern idea of cancellation.

RDJ was hired almost within a year of leaving jail onto Ally MB. Despite convictions he was "forgiven", still allowed back into the Hollywood, bad boy or not. That's the point.
