I'm looking forward to getting this 40th anniversary release. I hear it will be in 8K.
... and it will still be delayed countless times.Nah it will be digital copies only.
And that is the only new and interesting part, and not very good at that, of this set, meaning I can easily skip it.Full Slip Back Artworks by Vlad Rodriguez
All the individual slips are lenticular. And that is the only new and interesting part, and not very good at that, of this set, meaning I can easily skip it.
All the pictures within frame above credits to the side of a poster pic on the cards are going to be tiny, and were seen and used everywhere in other editions.
Their booklets were always kinda crappy - just screenshots usually, and also small and centered on pages with huge white empty borders.
Tired old steelbooks we all got many years ago. Tired old front art on slips we also got elsewhere.
And got all those other printed tid bits, and more, in previous studio Boxsets.
Hard, definite pass!

I just don't care for lentis, all that is rather a detractor for me.All the individual slips are lenticular.
The box is lenticular.
That’s all new.
$600Interested but I just paid an Ebay scalper $600 for the old Filmarena Maniacs set, which Cinemuseum will have a tough time beating. Are group buys a thing of the past now? We have to duke it out with internet bots for a copy?
No thanks
Estimated release date : 2077
Well, the FAC release was 7,000czk at preorder. Which at the time was probably about $350, allowing for conversion and foreign transaction fees, BEFORE shipping.$600
I must collect in a different league! The steels I buy are usable - a hobby if you will.
Collect, open, watch, store.
Surely at these prices it then becomes an investment rather than a hobby?
Assuming here that you are a sealed collector?

Any group buy fees and shipping will have been ontop of that. It's a HUGE set as well, so $425 total wouldn't an unreasonable figure to keep in mind.
Assuming usual ebay fees and sales tax were applicable, call that $80. Plus shipping, which could vary drastically. Seller probably only made $50-75 from the sale.
Some may view it like that, black and white, but I can't say that I do. I just buy what I want/feel compelled to own, and I aim to have the best version of each (subject to my own personal taste, of course) in my collection.Investment or hobby.
It'd be interesting to see how collectors view their collections - as one or the other, or maybe it's not as a simple, nor as black and white as that.
It really does look great - I just can't pay that much for a set I already own. I'm sure this will become a grail given how nice it is and how low the quantity is.From CM's FB page:
