Yes they are but considering that a lot of spine slashes you can't actually see until the wrap is removed and those that you can see would need to be individually checked, you can't blame them for not checking all 4,000 or 8,000 or whatever personally, especially when it only affects those that were unluckily on the top of the box.

I certainly wouldn't want the job :p

sorry. but thats no excuse. zavvi is ultimately responsible to qhat they send their customers. sending out case loads of damaged steelbooks is BS, straight up.

All three of my disney steelbooks arrived with the spine slashed and Brave sounds like something is broken on the inside

Has took me a week to receive both my Bambi & Cinderella (longest I ever has to wait from zavvi) was dreading looking at the spines on both copy's but can confirm both are completely Mint, I couldn't have been happier but I truly do feel for those who have received damaged copy's, I can only imagine your frustration and anger & hope zavvi correct there mistakes.

Not sure why so many of you are blaming zavvi , it may or may not be them at all.

Remember there are 3 stages to steelbook production & delivery.

1) Steelbook made at scanavo then packed in cardboard boxes
2) Boxes opened at media distribution centre and discs and leaflets etc placed inside then sealed and placed back in boxes.
3) Box received & opened by end retailer.

It could either be at stage 2 or stage 3 that the dings and dents and spline slashes appear but considering the sheer volume of media (CDs DVDs steelbooks etc) that the media centres stock and fill cases with, I would be more likely to point the finger of blame at them rather than the end retailer.

Another fault with this release by the way is that the J-Card says the audio track is full lossless dts HD-MA 7.1 but it's not , it's a lossy track - dts HD-HR 7.1
Not a biggie but strange for Disney who are obsessed with giving all ancient catalogue titles a full 7.1 dts HD Master Audio track (even Snow White in 1937) to suddenly release Bambi with a lossy track and then get the tech specs wrong on the info card !!!

They are slashed through the shrinkwrap, so the damage was caused in Zavvi's warehouse.

Well I have recently adopted the order 2 copies of various zavvi steelbooks of the Brave/Cinderella and Bambi. Out of a total of 6 copies only 2 have not had spine slashes (1x Brave and 1x Cinderella - still require Bambi). Is that bad luck propably but that is a pretty poor return regardless. I wonder whether I am able to get a spine slash free Bambi after requesting replacements.
Not happy

I'm happy to say that my copy is ok, but my Jungle Book has a spine slash, but I just couldn't be bothered with all the Zavvi hassle so just kept it.

And that's exactly why they make it so difficult to return orders - to stop people like yourself from returning so they get to screw you over royally and keep your money

I'd like someone who has the time to fling the Consumer Credit Act book at them and watch them crawl back under their rock because they have absolutely no right to ask for photos etc before you return damaged goods to them.

Even if it was mint, you could send it back up to 28 days later if you didn't want it - no questions asked.

Trading Standards might even be interested in their deliberate policy to try and discourage returns.

That's not correct if goods are not faulty you have 14 Days with Zavvi from the day you receive your order

Some shops/Online its only 7 days cooling off period
During the cooling-off period you can cancel your order for any reason and get your money back

If you change your mind its important to check a Shop/Online there return policy if its just you changed your mind and product is not faulty it must also be in original packaging and unopened or used if you change your mind

If its faulty that's a different matter your covered under sale of goods act and entitled to a Refund or Repair or Replacement (New)
Its best you take Photos of any damage to a product you buy online as this protects you if any dispute happens
If you buy from a shop you show them the damage in person
With Online its best to take photos to protect your claim

Its in Zavvi right to ask for photos of any reported fault and by giving them this it protects you more as you have a record as in proof of damage

Some stores offer different cooling off periods of 30 days
Majority of shops its only 7 days

If its faulty you are covered under sales of goods act and your statutory rights cannot be altered no matter what there return policy says

If goods are not faulty then its whatever there return policy is with Zavvi that's 14 Days
All items must be returned unused and in the original packaging as they were in when received by you

Got dammit another slashed spine from Zavvi.

****ing hate that I have to use my time and money on sending steels back in the same condition they were before being send.

Isn't there another way of handling these issues? I actually have to pay for their mistakes? psst...

Anyways, for a more topic-related comment: It does look like a beautiful steelbook. Even unwrapped restrained from all its glory. :)

TobyBunny was correct. Zavvi's return policy, direct from their website:

In order to arrange a return, please contact us and inform our Customer Service Team of your order number, the item you are returning and the reason for the return. We will then reply with a unique returns authorisation number and the address you need to send the item to.

If your item is faulty you will need to tell us what exactly the fault is.

When you return your item please remember to ask the Post Office for a receipt which you should keep as proof of sending until you have received your replacement or your refund.

We can only refund postage costs if we have sent you the wrong item or if the item is faulty. We cannot be held responsible for non-delivery of returned goods. We will replace any faulty items like-for-like, or if the item is no longer
available, will refund the original payment method.

Our returns policy is valid for 28 days from receipt of goods.

The other quote also applies to ALL returns. One or the other is obviously incorrect information, which shouldn't come as any surprise on Zavvi's website.

This getting a bit off track but its not the same
Its 28 Days if its faulty see spoiler above (Does not affect your statutory rights meaning after 28 days you still have rights if you notice a fault)

If its a unwanted item its 14 Days Cooling off period
(Ordered by Mistake/Changed your Mind/Any Reason)

Lets get back to discussion of the Steelbook

Can't wait for this. Thought it came today but it was Brave which shipped 4 days later on the 8th. So 4 days from the UK to the US, not bad. Also no spine slash. :)
