Would someone here please tell me if I should buy the OC or just the FS? Yes, I don’t mind putting this decision in the hands of others (more seasoned collectors than me) because I’m terrible at making decisions. I’ve never done a OC ever, it never made sense to me to have 3 of something just for different art. But I loved this movie and I love two of the variants and like the 3rd so should I spend well over $200 for a OC or do the sensible thing and choose only one and risk regretting my decision when others post their OC pictures in January?
Then I would say OC.

I can see this gaining the same type of value/desire as Manta's Fight Club OC.....

I'm in the exact same boat as you (really like two variants and haven't bought an OC before) and I'm going to go for it. I liked the movie a lot but didn't think I'd like these that much but I think they're really nice editions, and with practically evetything before I've never really considered an OC but this is the one for me. Will probably sell the other variant but I also know a friend that likes the one I don't so I may just gift it to them. But yeah just go for it.

OC if in doubt. You can always sell off 2 slips and the box later if you change your mind and only want the one slip.

Thank you for the replies/advice. I can’t say anything with 100% certainty but if I buy this OC, this one time only probably, I can’t likely see myself ever selling any part of it. I can deal with the cost, I just wasn’t sure if it made sense to even do it when the only difference is the covers and the box. I’m a Taurus so I’m used to making the “practical” decision but if most of you think when in doubt go with the OC, that’s probably sound advice.

That's fair, I do split some of my OCs if I don't fall in love when they're in hand, but lots of others do not. I don't buy many though, as I can usually also make the practical decision and pick one clear favourite slip.

I’m going for the fullslip as I can’t afford the one click, I do however agree with @samdavies and if you can get the 1 click you can then decide when it’s in hand and have the option of selling the slips you don’t want.

I was a huge Greta Gerwig fan before she became a director and then loved Lady Bird and Little Women and I just thought Barbie was amazing. So I kind of have an emotional attachment to this and it’s why I’m even considering getting a OC for the first time (and will definitely do that now that I’ve gotten feedback here that helps) so I’m just not going into this to sell off even one variant. In fact, I’ll probably only open the variant that I consider to be good instead of the two I think that are great.

I can’t possibly say what happens a decade from now but definitely won’t sell an edition because this is probably a once in a lifetime deal for me and I want to always have it be a complete set.

None of that still makes it easy for my rational brain to not still question why I am doing such an impractical thing but I would rather deal with that than my emotional brain’s disappointment when a lot of you get the beautiful OC box. :)

That's what I usually do, when I keep a Manta OC in it's entirety. Open the box and my favourite slip. All the steels and extras are the same so there's no gain to open them all. Different story with HDZ, Blufans & FAC, as all the content is different.

I thought you detested this movie in your previous posts.....
I didn't hate it, I was just disappointed it didn't have much of what I was expecting, having read and listened to a bunch of opinions. Which I usually try not to do, and have my own, precisely to not have wrong expectations.
But upon discussing its various scenes and bits, I came to a conclusion it does have some interesting parts, most of all Robbie's perfect shoulders and armpits (it's a fetish... I don't care), plus I'm a sucker for pretty boxes, so...

I'd advise choosing one of them (the pink FS), because you'll look at it once, box it up, and be out 3× the cash.
Only buy One-Click if you love the movie like I do the Fifth Element, and have (or, since it's a new movie, potentially in your mind could have in the future) 20 editions of it, including 8 steelbooks, OR...

...willing to take the time and hassle to sell off parts of it, like SamDavies advises here, because you could compensate all of the cost, basically having one of the slips for free eventually.

New here guys - how does one join on the group buys? Been paying scalper prices for a while…

Edit: Never mind, seemed pretty easy
Welcome to the community! Glad you figured it out, but feel free to give myself or another Mod a shout if you need help with anything else :)

I love the movie on many levels (director, the film itself, the cast, the artwork, etc) and I paid $30 for the streaming copy, will pay over $200 for the OC, will buy the regular release in 2 weeks and there’s rumors WB will release a special edition steelbook later and, if they do, I’ll buy that.

So not quite 8 steelbooks or 20 editions but I think my 5 or 6 versions will be Kenough.

No. It's a huge earner and all the other big players have WB contracts. Blufans and HDZ are possibilities for WEA, FAC and CM are for WWA. You'll be waiting ages for any of those though
Thanks!

Zeta and Blufans will be long, long waits for a release? Has any of them even mentioned it’s something they will do because I had heard about the ML release a while ago?

I’ve pretty much given up buying from Film Arena and I am done with CM after Last Night in Soho.

Aside from a few OAB releases, Blufans has been dead for awhile now. The Prestige release was delayed indefinitely a long time ago, and I don’t recall any updates recently on that title. The preorder for Gatsby is MIA. Plus, now they are supposedly planning the discless Marvel editions to be released who knows when.

I can see it being several years, if a Barbie release ever happens. But then again, they could also announce it tomorrow for all any of us know.

Manta seem to have crazy good operations considering how many WEA editions they are able to release, and generally on (or close to on) schedule.

All this talk has me tempted for the OC now…. I rarely do them (think i’ve had maybe 3 or 4, ever…in over a decade and hundreds of steels).

How much is the OC shipping usually (from here), if somone could advise/confirm recent or estimated costs please.
Trying to work some numbers out vs GB elsewhere.
