watched the ultimate version the other day and I have to say it does make the film better, the story makes much more sense. Although it is longer this should have been the theatrical cut, but they were probably pressured into making it shorter by the studio :dunno:

I'm really confused now. I normally only watch the 3D version if it's available, but as it's the theatrical version it seems it will be inferior from what you guys are saying :dunno:
Simple. Watch the Theatrical 3D first. If you like/love it but think something is missing then watch the extended cut in 2D after a week or so. Best of both worlds? :D

Yeah I guess you're right. Personally I'd have preferred a "The Hobbit" style release with the extended version coming later in 2D and 3D - but I know that would have annoyed a lot of people.

The studio was forced to creating the ultimate cut to cover up the disastrous theatrical cut. They could have done something about the storyline and characters in the first place for the theatrical release as it has now kind of wrecked the prospects of DCEU competing against MCU. At least they should thank the hardcore DC fans for making this film a bit successful.

I watched this first and was worried that CA Civil War would follow suit but thankfully that was brilliant when compared to this tripe.

Great, now all I can think of is...

Nope. Zack Snyder always wanted to release this version but the studio wasn't keen on a 3 hour film for a few reasons. People put off by a 3 hour superhero film, less showings at cinemas due to the increased runtime all boiling down to one thing... less money. I'm sure as a creative director Zack Snyder's first priority is to make the film as good as he can which is not the studio's objective... they want/need to maximise profit. I'm not a DC hardcore fan but I still paid to go see it as I'm a fan of good films and wanted this to be great, fair enough it wasn't but the Ultimate version goes a long way to fixing it.

DC should just slow down, they're trying to catch up to Marvel's films, one shots, TV shows etc in the space of two movies. This film isn't as good as it could have been but it's certainly not tripe. A lot of people love it and that what matters to me :batman:

Anyway... off to get some tripe.

There's not much difference in the Ultimate Cut. No extra fighting, just an extension of the story in the middle-East and another tiny scene with Lex (which is a nice scene).
It does watch much better though IMO and definitely worth watching the extra 15mins or so. Quite surprised the studio cut it out.
I'm also amazed by all of the hate the movie got. It's better than 90% of the Marvel movies and I'm really looking forward to DCU expanding! :batman::mos::theflash:

Every single Marvel film to date is better (other than HULK and Iron Man 3). The cinematography / visual fx is easier to watch and storylines easier to follow.

These dark gritty DC storylines are getting a bit boring. I'm a batman / superman fan boy so these films are getting my support otherwise Marvel all day, every day.

Dark stories depress me.

For me, there have been movies from both universes-I am not a hardcore fan of either-that have bored me to tears and I've looked at my watch too many times. I think it's great both companies are developing some of these characters for the big screen (and cashing in in an insane way through merch and all else), but for me, I like depth and grit for these films. It's made them multi-dimensional and more interesting to me, but some of the dragging and or/missing story elements of any comic book movie I've seen over the years, has also made me appreciate even more the need for a solid, cohesive story.

I never read the comics, and I have not seen the Ultimate cut. I look forward to seeing the extra footage, but for me it has more to do with me being a Supes fan, that I'll end up 66 different eds and would like to see the other version. The whole Marvel vs DC debate will always rage (and as long as it stays fun, cool), but it's hard to ignore shortcomings from studios, regardless.

The studio wasn't forced to creating the ultimate cut. Since the beginning the whole movie was there. But due to their stupid decision to oblige Snyder to cut so many scenes, now we have all this unnecessary hate on this movie.

I think we should discuss about the movie in the right place:

This. I can put on Guardians of the Galaxy or Winter Soldier or The Avengers at any time and enjoy watching them. They are well acted with great cinematography and dialogue and awesome fx. They also improve my mood when I'm down or just tired. I can't imagine sitting through BvS again, it was such a boring slog and a chore watching it in the theater. The best I could do is put it on in the background while I'm working, since it wouldn't distract me very much. But I don't know if I'd even want to do that, as every single one of Lex Luthor's lines really annoys me.

I love the fact that DC movies are much grittier and darker, don't get me wrong I love Marvel movies too, i think it's good that there's a difference between the two. How boring would it be if they just copied each other, where we had the same movies just with different names.

Ditto!! could't agree more... DC is a bit more mature and more on the serious side to Marvel, something that my sons wouldn't enjoy as much as Marvel (12-19), love both too and would watch over and over again DC Or Marvel depending on the moods :cigar:

BTT, Let's get this released HDZ.... can't wait to display the boxset on my shelf
