Battle Of Britain (1969)
4K UHD + Blu-ray Limited Edition Hardbox + Hardback Booklet
Imprint Collection #500

“We’re short of 200 pilots. Those we have are tired, strained, and all overdue for relief. We’re fighting for survival. Losing. We don’t need a big wing or a small wing. We need pilots. And a miracle.”

After the tremendous success of our 2024 release of A Bridge Too Far, we are thrilled to nosedive back into World War II with 1969 epic Battle of Britain, coming to 4K UHD for the first time worldwide, fully restored by Imprint Films from the original 35mm negative.

This is an aviation spectacular like no other. Filled with extraordinary large-scale flying sequences and heart-stopping assaults, director Guy Hamilton (Goldfinger) pulled off a miracle bringing this film to life, a mammoth undertaking in scale and combat.

Based on the real-life events from July to October 1940 and the book The Narrow Margin by Derek Wood and Derek Dempster, Academy Award-winning cinematographer Freddie Young (Lawrence of Arabia) tackled the daring undertaking of capturing these daring recreations.

An all-star cast leads us into battle, including Laurence Olivier, Michael Caine, Christopher Plummer, Robert Shaw, Harry Andrews, Kenneth More, Trevor Howard, Patrick Wymark, Ian McShane, Michael Redgrave, Michael Bates, Edward Fox, Nigel Patrick, Ralph Richardson, Susannah York, and Curd Jürgens.

This brand NEW 4K restoration comes loaded with brand NEW and archival Special Features, and is housed in a strictly Limited Edition 3-Disc Hardbox with an exclusive 100-page hardback booklet.

1500 copies only.

Received this e-mail from ViaVision.

Dear valued customer,

After our 2024 restoration and 4K release of A Bridge Too Far, we knew that following up with Battle Of Britain was the next logical step! It has been a joy watching this mammoth restoration come together, and we are very thankful for the work from the wonderful team at Fidelity In Motion for making it happen.

Our initial scan discovered a short two-minute section of the film was not present in the negative, instead replaced with white space in the middle of the reel. This, of course, sent us in hunt of the missing footage, to ensure our restoration is complete and uncompromised.

We are happy to say that a superior source for this two-minute section has now been found, and we are thrilled to see this scanned and built into the restoration.

While this means a disappointing further delay, we know that there is no other option for this key release - our proud #500 for Imprint Films.

Our new release date will be 18 February 2026. Your order, including any other titles, will be shipped together on or before this date.

Thank you for your patience and for your ongoing support of Imprint Films.

Arrived from ViaVision along with a nameplate which I will add to the bluray cave when the house is fully renovated. I think it was because this is release #500.

I first read about the Battle of Britain and it's build up the Battle of France when I was nine or so. Popped into the senior section of the local library and was fascinated by the cover. I can still remember the smell of the pages. A fascinating read where one first learnt about Tangmere, Kenley, figures like Park, Adolf Sailor Malan, 302 & 303 Kosciuszko and so on and all the sad stories.

One in particular struck me even then of a young man who arrived smiling in his jalopy and who died two hours later with his Squadron Leader having to write a letter to his parents. I was very fortunate many years later to meet the daughter of the writer Lisa at RAF Colindale and even clamber into a Spitfire V cockpit.

Inspired a love of aviation. We used to have an old gentleman with a distinguished moustache and blue betet and blazer, medals pinned to the chest and grey trousers who would turn up once a year to collect for the RAF Wings Appeal. He stopped coming in 2007 and probably sadly passed away. I bitterly regret not speaking to him about his experiences.

Was fortunate enough to go to this Prom (regular Proms visitor every year) and see and listen to the BBC Concert Orchestra play Walton's magnificent score with all his trademarks you can hear in his other overtures like Portsmouth Point, Richard III.
