finally, someone that isnt afraid to say the truth!!

So if we said the same for something like a Blufans release, by the time we'd seen the complete package it would be sold out.....if you don't like how it works then don't join the GBs or just wait and chance it out. It's your choice bud, nobody forces you to join the GBs. Karel, and other GB hosts (including myself, which has really opened my eyes recently in how much effort is needed to actually run a reasonably sized GB), spend a **** load of time organising these and making sure they run as smooth as possible making it easier for members to obtain these editions. As for backing out if you don't like it....I don't know how it works with others but with Blufans, once we've got our amount locked in with said supplier thats it, we cannot change it and are charged for that amount. When people drop out we then have to try and fill those spaces, granted most of the time it's fairly easy to do but sometimes it's not always possible. If you had seen the amount of $$$ we've paid for the GOTG GB your jaw would drop!

Gone on a bit of a tangent I know, but I guess my point is it's not always the way that we don't get to see the complete release before the GB goes live (that mainly sticks with Blufans and FA), most of everything else is shown before hand and in good time. If you don't like the way a GB is run or how things are managed, then by all means try and sort yourself out and crack on and free that space up for someone else

Not having a go mate at all, just airing some of my own opinions :thumbs:

Just trying to keep track of orders for myself is a bear! I (mostly) understand and (wholly) appreciate what goes into doing a successful GB. It is an awesome task that I and many others fully appreciate.
Again- tip your GB hosts well!

i enjoy all the group buys and ive joined nearly every single one for film arena, various mondo ones and other various releases and i will continue to join them as ive been doing it for years.

your right, a serious amount of effort and work does go into these and its very easy to forget so i applaud anyone that does group buys.

i didnt mean to sound so harsh, i just thought it would be better if there were pics before group buys went live as it makes everyones lives easier in the end.

Honest question: why do the group buys have to take place so early?

Can they not be defered until after the details have been confirmed?

Is there a certain window in which the group buys must go live? If so, who decides this? The retailer or distributors?

I truly respect all the hard work @Karel goes trough. I don't know how he does it, especially with the pace these FAC releases keep coming. Nowadays it seems almost impossible to get a copy of low numbered editions on pre-order date on FA site, so it's a privilege to have these GB's.

Most people just want a copy- whatever the number.

I think retailers should put up live pics before anyone can buy them (like Plain Archive).

I think film arena does that on there website before you can pre order from them directly I think the beauty shot is up. However for the Gbs which are sourced before the preorders go live as a courtesy for us to be able to get them they need to be gotten before to secure the copies for our enjoyment and collecting. If you end up not liking something after the photos come available I'm sure you could either find someone to take your place or find a collector on Facebook or Google.

I meant also before GBs are allocated.

I wasn't talking about trying to get a low number, but low numbered editions overall. For example trying to get a copy of a limited edition less than thousand trough FA site seems hard.
I see. Well, another great thing about the FA GBs- it actually costs less for me than ordering from the site!:OMG:
(I haven't checked again in awhile- but the shipping from FA's site was not cheap (of course that is a geographical factor that doesn't apply to everyone)).

Yup, that's true. Shipping to Finland is also expensive trough FA. In the long run we save quite a sum in these GB's.

karel gets asked by film arena how many he needs by an early date, he also gets told by them when they need the money to be paid hence why 9 times out of 10 people are paying alot earlier as film arena want the money for them, i know this because have been told so.
Its a privileged arrangement that karel has with film arena, one for which i am grateful for as alot of members here get serviced at cost from karel.

personally i think paying earlier is a good thing as is paid and done you just have to wait for it to turn up and the group buy host isn't going to get stung from someone who drops out and changes there mind, which is how it should be would save the group buy hosts alot of aggrovation in the long run!

personally i don't see what all the general upset is (not you blu-steel) we all know the rules and how it works its not uncommon knowledge as @cooey has said people would not be moaning if was blu-fans!
there are always some people that are not always happy but to those i would say don't get on the group buy.
you will just have to buy on the secondry market or order direct from film arena with alot more highly inflated prices regards postage which film arena are milking tbh, that becomes the seed you must decide if you wish to swallow after the full beauty shot becomes available.

i suspect we don't see the full beauty shot straight away as the bits and bobs have to all be made still and this is why we don't see it until later as its does not exist as my guess.

regards the last sentence maybe @Collector03601 could confirm is the case please?

so everyone has there answer and then can get the answers in there head once and for all, so we don't keep going from thread to thread with all the same questions of group buys should be this group buys should be that!

it helps no one really, group buys are done the way they and thats how it is end of story so lets all just move on please.

basil

thanks collector and karel for both you hard work

can't believe I missed the group buy opening until now. 270th poster - most people asking for 2, think I'm going to miss out :(
