Genetic Chain is teaming up with New Zealand wunderkind Kaleb Johnston for our first official in-person gallery event: Wavelength! While all of our releases have been digital up to this point, we’re also big proponents of physical art and in-person community events, and we’ve been working with Kaleb on an awesomely new approach to gallery shows.

Kaleb’s background in photography has paved the way for his budding and blooming venture into digital art. In an attempt to capture the physical world around him using technology, Kaleb’s art has seemingly always been about expressing physical moments through digital means.

With Wavelength, Kaleb seeks to express the internal workings of the body, specifically our brain’s natural activity, in an unfathomably unique way.

Per Kaleb:
“Wavelength, [is] an evolving code I've been adapting for the last few months. The idea stemmed from our brain's electrical activity and how thought can spark millions of connections within our brain.

Creating the bridge between code and our brain's functionality is a fascinating idea which relates on an extremely relative scale. The random processes our brains execute without conscious thought relate to the way code writes without the need for complete physical interaction. Once the foundation of the code/thought is outlined, the rest progresses like a subconscious thought.”

Since this is Genetic Chain Gallery’s grand opening, we really wanted to craft an experience that is an amalgamation of everything we’re excited about–we’re fusing physical and digital art with our unique display setup, and we’re creating an event where community members can join in for exclusive access to collectibles, as well as free rewards. We will have two limited edition prints available for attendees as well as a limited POAP.

Here are all of the important details for the event:

  • Wavelength opens Friday, March 11th from 7PM - 9PM ET
  • Genetic Chain Gallery is located at 60 Broadway in Brooklyn, NY
  • Admission is free, and refreshments are also provided
  • We will be following statewide Covid guidelines
Any remaining prints will be sold on our website next week. Please make sure you're subscribed to our newsletter for details!
