Get a grip only a tenner not like other sites or eBay sellers charging shocking rate for premiums and delivery costs check out the blurayforlife store on eBay and that will put a small £9.99 fee into perspective for all you know we might get improved packaging from zavvi now. Chill

Lol have you seen what the guys are like in the comments on twitter when zavvi post a new pre order or release, they give them massive false hope because everything is amazing to them. It’s comical.

I really don’t care about this £9.99 thing, I’m not the only one who’s not for it. I’ll still be able to order what I want to order. And you can’t really put eBay sellers in the same breathe comparing prices, that’s why they are scalpers when they jack prices up. And with premiums people tend to by much less than say zavvis monthly schedule of releases so again strange to compare a normal retailer to a premium retailer.

Yeah I agree with you on the amount zavvi now releases compared to years ago now every film seems to be a steelbook

Typical "tactic" from Zavvi, but then again, it's only like Amazon Prime I suppose. It's not something I'm interested in anyway, so I won't be signing up... simples!

By the way, I read on Facebook that subscribers are also guaranteed 10% off all in stock steels... anyone know if that's true?

Yes it is. It is stated in the introductory message you get, alongside codes for the offers.

Your guaranteed that on all in stock steels with WELCOME346 mate

However, amazon offer free shipping over a certain amount. Zavvi aren’t. That’s my issue

That code doesn't always work though... at least not for me. Just noticed they're also offering 20% off on collectibles... now I'm kinda tempted lol.

But yeah, this whole thing doesn't really make me feel like a "valued customer", since they're asking for money. Plus any Tom, Dick and Harry can sign up anyway!

True but I’ve never had a issue with in stock steels before. Unless that said steel is in a sale with a price drop but then again most times I’ve been able to use it

Oh, and watch them completely disable that code now. :squint:

I was thinking that earlier. But shhhh, don’t say it too loud lol

FYI as far as steelbooks go, Zavvi releases a tiny number compared to "years ago".
I agree I could not keep up with them all when they started doing steelbooks I'm surprised they are still around to be honest the stores closed down years ago but the steelbooks kept them in business lol. We'll sort of.

FYI I'm talking when steelbooks were simply "limited edition" ie play.com days
Play.com got into their stride in 2012 but were effectively snuffed out by Zavvi in 2013 . . . even though Play.com did release quite a few exclusives (compared to other retailers) it was really only for one year (2012) compared to Zavvi who have been doing the job of supplying exclusive (and tradewide) steelbooks for over six.

Not forgetting that when steelbooks were first introduced to the UK in 2008 the number of releases were tiny and stayed small until 2012:-

2008 total steelbook releases = 3
2009 ----------------------- " ------------ = 9
2010 ------------------------ " ------------ = 22
2011 ------------------------ " ------------ = 29
2012 ------------------------ " -------------= 126 (out of which 59 Play.com excl.)
2013 ------------------------ " ------------ = 165 (out of which 1, yes 1, was a Play.com excl. and 62 Zavvi excl.)
2014 ------------------------ " ------------ = 244 (out of which 134 Zavvi excl.)
Etc.

I agree I could not keep up with them all when they started doing steelbooks I'm surprised they are still around to be honest the stores closed down years ago but the steelbooks kept them in business lol. We'll sort of.
Even if they were just selling steelbooks I reckon they'd still be around as they appear to have their finger on the pulse of the market for collectables . . . now with the dumbing down of traditional antiques - almost across the board - collectables are truly where it's at and I reckon that as long as physical media remains in favour Zavvi will be around to supply it.

how do you know those exact numbers?

It sucked when play closed shop,if im not mistaken where they not selling steelbooks before zavvi started selling them.

They sure were pal. Now every film whether successful or not gets a steel release by Zavvi some poor art choices too.
