What if you have an unopened steelbook AND the replacement discs... wouldn't that be at least close to proof? It's unlikely someone has the replacement discs only... but I guess it depends how those are shipped and/or if they are sealed in some way. HMV better not send them in a jiffy bag :hilarious:
Yep, i could see that may get around it. But the replacement would have to be in some sort of special case, stating its the replacement. No cover or just the disc, nah, people can just buy the movie cheap in the future, add that to a £16.99 unopened steel and voila...£20 may turn into a £100 +.
I dont see something that cant be opened and checked, be worth anything to anybody, (unless the newer version is in a different box).

I was lucky enough that my local HMV were happy to sell me a copy they had pulled from the shelves and had loads under the counter, i watched this tonight and really enjoyed the movie but how an earth did this disc get released in this state, froze at least 20 time's. EEK!

Somehow don't think HMV has time or inclination to put this back online unless it's got loads of them. They'll get them back in the warehouse, let the boxcutter lose on them, change discs, then reshrink, put tag & tape on and ship them out to stores. The original discs may or may not go back to the distributor for destruction. Well that's my take on it.

Totally off topic is it possible to get replacement discs for Sucker Punch stll as I never did at the time ?

Great points John! I for one will not open it, so I'm not bothered about the faulty disc. If you have an unopened steelbook that's faulty and only a few others have the same faulty steel out of 4 - 8000 others, then it's rare!
Is this a thing? Are people buying these steelbooks and never opening them? I don't think I understand...

got an email from HMV this morning saying the order will be delayed apparantly there are manufacturing faults with the disc & that they would be sending out replacement disc's anyone else had this email?

Oh yeah, read back a few pages and check the OP. Almost everyone is getting an email about it and having playback issues.

quite a few people have had this now, but mainly people who've already had the steelbook and are now awaiting a replacement disc.

just to check your order hasn't been dispatched yet?

I want to know, as if that's the case it will mean it should be available again online/instore once the replacement discs are sorted out.

Mine got dispatched last Tuesday or something but now it's been a week and I still haven't received it, I know of all this manufacture error because I got an email but is it possible that hmv have not dispatched it when they said and are replacing the discs?

Got my copy today so I'm going to try my luck & give it a spin now :)

1 freeze 3 minutes in .. another after 4 mins ....

I'm not even going to bother to try my disc. It obviously affects every single Blu-ray copy, so I'll just wait for the replacement disc :)
