I would expect the discs to have been replaced in these, but I also hope that Zavvi clearly mark these (perhaps with a sticker) to denote that these have the working disc, and so that collectors are able to tell the difference between these and the original HMV release with faulty disc.

Sealed copies of the original HMV release are still desireable even though the disc is faulty (makes them all the more limited, especially if the replacement disc is sold alongside the sealed SteelBook), so I would like there to be an easy way to tell the difference. I'm guessing Zavvi don't give a rat's ass about the collectibility of a title though, so I doubt very much that they will bother to do anything. I doubt they'll even comment on the faulty disc issue if asked...

There won't be any sticker, these will be identical to the original HMV ones bar one letter added to the serial number on the disc, which those with the replacement disc already have. Same release, same disc, just left over stock.

I'm aware of that. Doesn't really help collectors looking to buy a sealed copy off of eBay though. How are we supposed to tell whether a sealed SteelBook is the original HMV version with fauty disc or Zavvi version with replaced disc?

If collector (A) wants to buy the Zavvi version with a non-faulty disc, how is he supposed to know it's not the original HMV version? Likewise, if collector (B) wants to buy the original HMV version with the faulty disc (for whatever reason he would want to do that), then how is he supposed to know it's not the Zavvi verson with the non-faulty disc?

If Zavvi are planning on offering this remaining stock with a replaced disc, then they really need to be addressing this issue and displaying something on the outside to denote this - such as a new barcode sticker with a different barcode on it or something. That would be satisfactory.

LOL! :hilarious: Who gives a rats ass about the eBay buyers! that's their problem! For the record where are the honest eBay sellers who admit the disc doesn't work on their sales page on the original sealed versions! Not everyone knows that this had a faulty disc. I bought mine off eBay and it not only came scratched but didn't include the replacement disc which they said "would be included"

This is not a very expensive steel. As many have said it was offered here in the sales section very cheaply. If this was a serious grail with a value of over £60 I could agree with your comments, but a £20 steel from HMV being re-released again, no one cares about additional stickers. There 100% won't a way to tell which one you are getting and Zavvi certainly won't be adding anything to the package to give buyers a warning. Most open versions of this on eBay already have the replacement disc meaning they are 100% identical in every way to this release. :)

Will this have an effect on the originals, not really as from what has been said Zavvi aren't making a new batch just offering the few hundred that are left on shelves. These will be snapped up pretty quick by those that want one, which most likely won't translate to a flood on eBay as Zavvi limit orders to 5 max. It may see a few more crop up on eBay but probably at roughly the same price as it IS the same product, just resealed.

i saw it often in the trade section here for less than 19£, rather would give my money to an fellow ninja as paying the same price to a company.

I sold mine for £15 a couple of days ago. Hardly wallet splitting!

i always am pretty shocked how some HDN members seem to be ok gettin regularly conned, tricked & “scalped” by faceless mega corps & retailers like amazon or disney… …but then bizarrely get so angry when a regular working class dude or dudette on ebay, trys to make a few extra bucks to help pay for tuition fees or childcare, or as a tiny aid to our utterly extortionate housing & rental costs :movie:

…indeed... perhaps they feel that only the elite shld be allowed to make a profit ? :dunno:
