I don't think it's OOP, there's got to be a lot of these Steels left. I just think they don't know what to do with the faulty disc issue. I am expecting it to eventually go back on sale online.

No doubt theyll open them up and replace the disc's I've rang round alot of hmv's after a sealed copy, sadly no luck :|

They could just send them out sealed with the replacement disc but I tend to think they will open them up and replace them too.

The staff are really vicious to open them up and switch over the disc's, do u guys reckon they can get money refunded if they ship the disc's back to the manufacture?

No the staff would have just been given orders from above not to continue handing out faulty items which is what they'd be doing if they continued to sell them sealed.

So worst case scenario you get to the till and they whip it out in front of you. The disc I mean. ;)

I picked up a copy for someone else yesterday and one for my self on Saturday from the same store. They left them sealed and just handed me the replacement disc. It looks like it depends on what store you go to if they open them or not.

I went to the HMV in Selfridges on Bond Street today. The staff there told me that they had just received their allocation. The replacement disc comes sealed in a case of some sort. They are required to send the old discs back, which is why they are opening them, replacing the discs and then re-sealing. She said they wouldn't be able to sell them without opening the steelbook and replacing the disc. I did mention to her, that collectors would prefer to keep have the steelbook originally sealed. Not sure if that point drove home.

If this doesn't go back up online at some point I'm struggling to think what they'll do with all those copies?!

You're lucky. I got mine in the same kind of package and it was totally bent, like someone had run over the package :D

I guess I was because one of the boxes is actually kind of crushed and I think there's a knife going through one side of it like someone trying to take a peek of what's inside.

But thankfully the box seems hard enough to withstand the pressure of whatever was on top of it. And both steelbook are in fine condition.

I did have one occasion of where the Steelbook was bent on arrival. It was Priest, IIRC, which was annoying because by then it was impossible to get a replacement so I had to buy another one from eBay.

Phew! A really well packaged parcel arrived yesterday and in it was a sealed replacement steelbook from HMV! I didn't even know they had posted it but I am glad they did! For once they have treated me as a customer. :D
