I picked one up (opened and resealed by HMV) a couple of weeks ago with the intention of trading it. It was when the blue cross sale was going on. I won't say the price but it wasn't much more than a couple of pints. Also got Snowwhite and the Huntsman for 8.40 that day!!

That's a good visit to Hmv!!

Yeah. I actually had to get them to double check it wasn't a mistake lol. Will get round to trading my spare Cabin soon enough (also pre-ordered on release so its just a spare which I couldn't pass at that price).

Guys...I just received a sealed, shrink-wrapped copy of this title from thekingpin22uk.

Were there any copies of this title sold where the corrected disc was shipped by the manufacturer to HMV? I am obviously debating whether I should break the seal on this one.

Additionally, who/where do I write to get a corrected disc shipped to me?

I'm also curious as to what happened to all the unsold Cabin In The Woods SteelBooks after the pre-order batch were shipped with faulty discs

I seem to remember that these suddenly disappeared shortly after release day, around the same day that HMV eMailed their customers to notify them that a replacement disc was being shipped. Did HMV unseal the remaining stock and replace the discs before selling them? Or were the unsold ones taken off sale entirely?

Perhaps the studio / publisher recalled the unsold stock?

If thekingpin22uk is the original owner of this, then he should have received a replacement disc from HMV. If so, it's likely that he has kept the disc and has sold the sealed SteelBook with faulty disc.

I would not recommend opening it, as it is highly likely that you'll only be disappointed at having a faulty disc. No doubt that if you contacted HMV, they wouldn't be able to help you as they have already shipped a replacement disc to the original owner who purchased the SteelBook

If you wish to watch the film, I would suggest buying a cheap Amaray release or renting it, and keep the SteelBook sealed for collecting purposes only

Yes. Once the issue was realised, there were some shipped with the replacement disc inside the sealed steelbook. I know because I had a sealed one purchased at HMV (factory sealed, not resealed) which I traded for Iron Man 2. The other person opened it on arrival and it was the fixed disc.

Additionally, who/where do I write to get a corrected disc shipped to me?

You don't - the replacement was only available in HMV. Your best bet would be to purchase the amaray and swap the discs if you have a faulty one.

I already have the US version of this title in the lenticular slipcover & Amray case, so no, I have no good reason to open the steelbook (other than curiosity). I assume it is more valuable sealed. As for which disc is in it, I received this note from "thekingpin22uk"...

"i bought it after the recall, and was told this had the fix disc inside."

So who knows. :ohno:

I bought a sealed copy from HMV in December last year and the disc was fine.
