Controversial. But a work of art that deserved a Steelbook. It is unfortunate that the cover is fairly predictable.

this is one of the films i always wanted to watch as a child/teenager, once my father told me it was the only film he and my mother walked out of the cinema because of too much gore, sex and violence.
i already have the super-all-inclusive mediabook by NSM, but i hope for you all who don't have this in their collection already, that the steelbook will turn out to look gorgeous.

Caligula tests, pushes, and then oversteps the boundaries of sexuality in a movie in all regards like basically nothing you've ever seen before and nothing you will probably ever see again. it's a feast of carnal pleasure so indulgent and unapologetic that it will make even the most hardened heathen a bit fidgety. and yes.. violence and gore as well.
so if that's your schtick.. then I'm sure you'll be delighted to have a steelbook of it.
For everyone else... ye be warned.

Everytime a steel like this comes along, I weep for the great movies that deserve steelbook treatment and don't get it, but CALIGULA does. (??) But I'll be happy for the people who are excited for it (cuz that's good karma for when a movie I love gets the treatment and other collectors scratch their heads).
i watched my USA version this week and still really powerful film, but i only get it if the steelbook has art in the back....
