agree with @kryptonite for The Ring, @paddytom for The Blair Witch Project, @JayZe for Vidoedrome - great suggestions - something where being a VHS itself adds to it and links to the film, as well as classics from the pre-DVD era where VHS just seems right (see also @hatredhorror for Escape From New York, @Blu-ray-Bro for The Goonies. ).

i'd suggest the original Friday 13th or Halloween, or something scuzzy that only really should be seen on VHS, like the Basket Case trilogy.
