Hope Amazon drop their price a little...will be annoyed if they do that thing of dropping the price 2 days after release. Still, I got this for a tenner thanks to Bespoke Deals so I guess that's better than £17.99 already :D

The pirate ship is under the slip at the bottom... people know that, right?

I thought it was obvious! Well, I thought they might put the pirate's skiff on the back but after seeing the Canadian version now I'm wondering what they'll put on the back! Hope it's just sea that wraps around...I'm a fan of minimalist designs and it would suit the film.

Took the plunge and ordered this as I loved the film. Becoming a expensive hobby and expensive February!!! But hey, they do look pretty damn nice on my bookcase.

Seen the back of the Best Buy release. Its crap, doesn't blend in with the rest of the SteelBook, and the inside is just like the front, but with no boats. Just plain sea. Its a fail for me.

the guy who said this works at HMV.

Yep that was probably me (on AVForums). I work at HMV and pre-ordered a copy at £16.99, you'll probably want to pre-order it now at that price in case it goes up by a quid or two as usually we sell wide-release steelbooks for £17.99-£19.99 (or £14.99 for the first two weeks or so if it's an exclusive). I had it pre-ordered on Amazon but cancelled when I saw that price!

Nice one. Yeah I just had a look at the artwork on the Best Buy thread. Admittedly the interior artwork would have worked better on the reverse but I still like the reverse artwork and I'm sure it'll look excellent in the flesh! Always a chance the UK design might be slightly different...I'll admit I was expecting a shot of the titular Captain on the interior at least.

One of the few steelbooks people have questioned the design of that I actually thing looks graphically exciting, and far from the norm - the only other steelbook I currently have on pre-order is Serpico! I am really into bold typographic/minimalistic design though so might be why I've been so selective so far this year (but also the quality of the film: a big decider for me these days...looking forward to The Killing Fields)!

Still thinking about this one. Might be another typical Sony pictures steelbook and the price drops fast, Elysium is going for under £15, After Earth £10 and White House Down just over £15.

Should I cancel it at £18? Decisions decisions.

Seems there will be plenty of them so your shout really - for example, I work at HMV and we only got 4 copies of the Rush steelbook, but we're getting 20 of Captain Phillips in (we are a small store but you can tell the difference...unless StudioCanal have a different strategy to Sony). I'd guess you might be able to pick it up for around £15-£16 a couple of weeks after release but it's a little unpredictable - price changes react to demand and popularity. This film was pretty popular when it came out and will be a big one on home video - probably more so than Elysium or After Earth, but maybe similarly sized appeal to White House Down?
