We've had locker doors and even a safe door on the front of steelbooks ...

... but this nuclear reactor door is definitely a first . . . looks v. effective and real as hell but maybe not as real as the real thing:-

A metal door with a sign warning of radiation stands at the wall separating reactors three and four inside the former Chernobyl nuclear power plant

I like the fact that it says “Keep Locked”, daring you to not open the steelbook.

Unexpected art but I like it. different to the standard Blu-ray.

the finish could elevate this release further, but I wouldn't build my hopes for embossing

I like it it's like opening the door to the inside art which is the control center or you could see it as opening that door to go to the reactor its mature and simple but have meaning.

According to the cinematographer the series was shot in 24fps and according to AcornDVD, "Hi there, the frame rate for both DVD and blu-ray will be 25fps. Many thanks, Acorn DVD" (2:04 PM · Jun 17, 2019).

As for the sound - from the horse's mouth, "For dvd it’s stereo 2.0. For Blu-ray it’s stereo PCM and DTS 5.1. Many thanks, Acorn DVD" (3:15 PM · Jun 17, 2019).

Further details and comparison between this and the US release:-

It's been mentioned that the steelbook artwork looks like a video game cover . . . I reckon that comment is more appropriate to the German mediabook:-

Chernobyl was filmed in 4K using Arri Alexa Mini
Cinematographic Process Arri RAW (3.2K) (source format) Digital Intermediate (4K) (master format)

It was broadcast in UK on Sky Atlantic Channel in HD 1080i and 4K UHD version also was broadcast same time on Sky Atlantic

Acorn Media in UK was initially only going to be doing a DVD release which is what they mostly do.
They used the DVD 25fps for the Blu-ray release and is what happens most times when they do a Blu-ray release

The UK Blu-ray was a late change after the amount of requests they got on Twitter for a Blu-ray release as they originally only announced a DVD release
Most Acorn Media releases are DVD's and only a few Blu-ray releases done.
Acorn Media Blu-ray releases of TV series has been 1080i/50 while in other countries there has been some Blu-ray releases of same various TV series 1080p

USA/France Blu-ray is 1080p

A 4K master exists for a possible later UHD Disc release in other countries at some stage but you won't see that happen with Acorn Media in UK

I refuse to buy a series that was shot and broadcast in 4K on a blu ray. What a joke.

It's not like this is some old show that needs remastering, 4K should be standard for any new release now.
