Well, I'm happy with it -- satin finish with spot-gloss elements to both the front and rear, and only £25 for one of the best mini series I've ever seen... no complaints from me!

Granted, full HD obviously would've been preferred, but I'm not too picky when it comes to that stuff tbh... so long as it's a step up from VHS/DVD quality.

Is the quality even noticeable? I’m not fussed that kinda stuff either but the comments regarding it has put me off buying it

I've not checked, but probably should... not sure I've ever seen anything in 1080i, so I'll possibly eat my words once I do lol.

Well, I just quickly flicked through the first episode and it looks perfectly fine/watchable to me. I guess unless you're comparing it side-by-side to a 1080p copy or have an expert eye for these things, then you won't notice anything wrong with it.

Steelbook looks good after removing shrink wrapping

Spot gloss finish on chernobyl door and hinges on front of the steelbook
Back of steelbook spot gloss finish

When you tilt the steelbook the spot gloss effect looks it's best

Looks better in hand than photos below show as photos taken during low natural daylight conditions

Considering the subject matter bit puzzling they didn't go for glow-in-the-dark effects around the door but despite that I feel steel looks more than good enough to win over the fans.

happy days. :) never got around to getting this pre-release, but delighted to see it was stil available - and still is at time of posting. may be going against the grain, here, but i think this is a really nice 'standard' release. posting a few pics :Snap: here in case anyone else is still on the fence. :woot: scroll down for the unboxing, or if you just want the pictures, here's the album. :wow:

for those interested, here's your j-card:
i agree with some posters above that it's quite a garish front for a sombre, serious series, but at the same time i think it underlines the potency of the substance at the heart of the disaster. there's spot glosses and textures on the front, which look pleasingly different under alternate lighting. here's a load of shots of the front of the steelbook, with some close ups:
and the same for the back artwork and spine:
opened up, the steelbook has a nice continuity of design throughout, with separate disc art also:
the biggest surprise was the booklet. this is a good, 40 page stapled booklet with interviews with cast and production, with the content much more ambitious and worth reading than your average standard release. here are some examples from inside the booklet:
all in all, a worthy steelbook for a superb series. watch if it you haven't yet.

hi @p3Xitr0n, welcome to the site. :)

there has already been a steelbook - not 4K - for this series, see thread here. i have just had a quick look on the usual retailers and can't see any advance notifications for the 4K amaray version just yet, although other Ninjas may be aware. happy hunting!
