Classics are classics for a reason. No twist needed.
Don't make Snow White a feminist with hairy pits. Don't make Prince Charming a fey interior designer.
Don't make the villians tragic heroes. Leave it alone.
I think Branagh is heroic for going AGAINST the PC grain and telling the classic tale as it is meant to be told. And THAT is something in this age of politically correct nonsense in Hollywood.

I do agree that of course to have a real movie of the Classic Cinderella Story is Amazing, I am not taking anything away from this.

The only comparison I was making is that Maleficent was some sort of a Snow White Twist and it worked so well... I don't think this movie would have been as good being a Classic Snow White Tale but yet again, this wasn't the vision of the Movie and what we got was a Visually Stunning and a great Twist on a Classic Story...

So there are 2 side to view this release and I don't think either one is Wrong.

Hollywood is so bankrupt. Turn TV shows into movies. Remake movies only 10 years old. Video games, cartoons, board games...name the last screenplay that was not based on some stupid Intellectual Property.
But the newest idea is the 'Twist' on an old property. Maleficent and Star Trek: Into Darkness started it.
It is really just the same damn story- BUT...we switcheroo the heroes and villians or change the who does what.
You remake LOTR and it is about Sam from the Shire taking a ring to mount doom with trusty Frodo by his side.
Or it is about a young Gollum who tries to be good. Or a story about why Sauron is Evil, and understanding what made him evil- when he is really just misunderstood. He just likes rings and hanging with his Nazgul homies.
When I saw Cinderella it was a breath of fresh air. No modernizing. No anachronistic rewriting of characters.
No freaking pop music. Beautifully, Joyfully, unapologetically old school. And that is fantastic. Classics get to be what they are for a reason: they are timeless.
My humble opinion, of course...

When I saw the trailer for this it looked really cheesy and I wasn't that big a fan. I went to see it with the wife at the cinema and absolutely loved it. Really can't wait to get the steelbook delivered.

Preordered it a while ago, but cancelled it last week thinking it wasn't worth the price.
Regretted doing so after like 10 minutes.
But knowing zavvi it should come back in stock sometime around the release date

Don't start the "I've cancelled because..." posts in this thread too.
You might well have ordered the FA version or the Asian version, but I for one don't want to keep hearing/seeing it.
Thanks. [emoji2][emoji106]
