"The immediacy of observation and instinctive line make these life drawings, for me, a very pure & primal expression of my work." -David Mack, 2013

Twenty years ago, David Mack created the character Kabuki and changed the world of storytelling in comic books. Today Kabuki is a New York Times Best Seller available internationally and has been translated into seven different languages, in addition to nearly two million copies of Kabuki comics and graphic novels in print in the U.S. alone.

David Mack also is one of the only comic creators to be listed in both the Top Ten Writers List and the Top Ten Artists List in Wizard Magazine, and in 2013 his book (co-written with Brian Michael Bendis) Daredevil: End of Days debuted at #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers List.

In 2013 David's figure drawings were exhibited with with the works of Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt in two different exhibits in Los Angeles and Chicago. To list David Mack's accolades and achievements would be impossible in this small space; what is important is to note that the deluxe hardcover book offered for preorder here is a new and unique milestone- a glimpse into Mack's personal life with intimate sum-i brush drawings in ink, correlating to a special fine art gallery event in Los Angeles in September 2014.

ABOUT THE REWARDS:

The book is a 100+ page hardcover on heavyweight art paper. For the basic goal we will create a 8.5" x 11" hardcover art book at 100 pages, with higher benchmarks meaning better paper, a larger scale book, and more pages!

The posters and shirts will be printed to accommodate the preorders and a small amount extra for the event. The posters will be numbered in pencil and will never be reprinted.

The bookplate is a gorgeous, high quality hand-pulled letterpress image on a card. Textured and exquisite, this is the way you'd discover a limited edition bibliophile volume from the 1920s or 1930s. It's completely archival, designed to enhance the book, and a deliberate addition to the experience. The center window will have a small space for David to sign and create a small remarqued image, making each one completely unique.
