I love the slips artwork, but I don't like that they are just using WWA and charging for more...

Not everyone loves the dress up of wwa steels I get that!
Personally I don't mind this wwa steel
And yes kimchi don't always get it right
As we have seen recently with the peeling slips and occasionally not great lentis
But when the do they get it spot on tangled momento perfume to name a few
Still think this will be a great release despite being overshadowed by blufans

It's an extra $7 for the slips and extras compared to the normal Korean steelbook on their site. Seems like a pretty good deal to me

It's always steelbooks first then the slips for me. If I can get the exact same steel locally, I would simply opt for that because I don't have to worry about any other expense other than the steelbook price and tax. Of course, I am giving up the extras. It may be just a $7 on the surface, but really that is $7 + international shipping + currency conversion. If I'm going outside my country for exclusives, the steel better be miles away more attractive (not just the slips).

Well that's fair but your argument was that they're charging more for the same steelbook implying it was extortionate when really your biggest gripe is that you don't live in South Korea

Well not only that, but I was hoping (or I guess expecting) Kimchi to compete with the WEA against BF so there is a legitimate competition (or options) in the market because as it stands at the moment, BF is continue reigning the exclusives every Marvel release and other retailers are leaving them unchecked (lol). Such events can inevitably lead to more price hikes in the near future. I've seen this happened with the Hot Toys brand if you are familiar with them. From the look of things, Kimchi took the path with the least resistance, but..that's just my opinion based on my observation as a consumer.

The PET slip + Steelbook ended at 23 + postage last weekend. That's significantly lower than the retail price.

I was watching that and put a bid In but it ended just above what my limit for it was

Only wanted it for the PET slip, poster and art cards it came with and was going to sell on the steel so I wasn't paying so much for the PET as a already have the wwa steel with a spine title

Based on my observations, why compete when you could target a completely different audience without competition. I personally want to own the WWA, I personally chose the Korean exclusives over the zavvi. Although I bought the blufans double lenticular too, if I could only have one, I'd have the Kimchidvd

The main factor here are Disney and how difficult they are to deal with. Disney will bend over backwards for the Chinese market and allow Blufans to have WEA with no real trouble (remember this is the same company that shoot scenes especially for the Chinese cinema).

Kimchi have said in the past that Disney dictate a lot of things to them but they do try to maneuver within these rules to bring a premium package to market. Disney don't really worry about the Korean market as much, they already have a steel that was available there unlike China where the only steel will be the Blufans one.

I get what you're saying but most of the complaints lie at Disney's door rather than Kimchi.

Also Wreck summed it up on the DS Blufans thread: Doctor Strange (2D+3D Blu-ray SteelBook) (Blufans Exclusive #42) [China]
