I just cancelled this earlier this morning as funds were low
I had it on order with a 15% discount code

I already have this film 2 releases on Blu-ray (UK/USA) and 2 releases on DVD (UK/USA)

If the steelbook ends up looking very good I will get when funds are available and hopefully with a price drop

I would have kept my pre order this morning if the release date had changed to August a few days ago or before I cancelled

Same here dude, just can't afford it this month. Can't see it selling out for quite a while, so I think we're safe.

Hammer horror on Blu-ray steelbook is always most welcome but that price is not.
If they're releasing these films why not start with the first and best, or is that a Lionsgate release?
Anyway, I see that they're sticking with their tradition of pricing high as they do with their slipcover editions but at least most of those including this collection of eight or so Hammers are Dual Format edition unlike this.
Come on, Studio Canal, if you're going to charge top dollar for a steelbook at least put more than one disc in it.
Not amused, not even in the slightest.

The problem with Dracula prince of Darkness is that the restoration is problematic. Heavy DNR and a serious removal of the heavy grain inherent in the original film. So you're simply getting the same problematic release that was put out in both the UK And USA. That's my major bone of contention with steelbooks. I love them but unless they are prepared to put the best pressing in that steelbook they become a expensive beer mats.. The Hammer films have had serious issues with their releases and it's only now that they are being addressed and hopefully proper remastering done. "Curse of Frankenstein" anyone?. So for example I will have to take my steelbook of The Third Man and replace the internal disc with the new one coming out in a few weeks. Bummer!

Thanks for excellent pics @StifflersDad, he who never lets us down.
Almost looks too glossy and the figures look almost like waxworks though.
As a film in colour, if I remember correctly, I don't understand the black-and-white inside artwork.

And now I see that the Steelbook of Dracula Prince of Darkness has only the blu-ray disc whereas the standard edition has both the blu-ray and DVD
Naughty Zavvi........

The Special Edition £19.99 Third Man is worth getting. It's easily the best pressing I have ever seen and it blows the Criterion blu-ray out the water.I know I've compared them. So that's one buy I can 100% recommend.

Cheers for that though will price-watch in the hope of under GBP 15 purchase for the Special Collector's Edition.
BTW, if you wouldn't mind, what's on the CD included in the package ?

EDIT 4/12 : Bought regular re-mastered 2 disc edition on the 22/11/15 for GBP 11.23.

Many thanks @augustus for the information - that would be a perfect complement to my Decca LP 'World of series . . .' - 'The World of Anton Karas' containing music from the film 'The Third Man' and other zither pieces 1971 electronically re-processed for stereo. The CD should sound somewhat better I imagine :)
