Everyone is different c.c.95, so it's not silliness to talk about which is best. Not everyone wants or can afford multiple versions of the same film in steelbook. If you only want one then maybe it depends on the region you're in, or if you hate 3D on your steelbook, or if you want some unique art, or if you're also interested in the quality of the movie on the disc.

Is it that the people that don't like the '3D' on their steelbooks don't have 3D tvs and players? It doesn't worry me at all, especially with Dredd where the typeface is the same.

psychoscot, I'd offer a disc swap but I think you'd want to keep the mondo disc for the artwork. The Japanese disc is region free but 2D only, and as we've said better quality than the UK. Has anyone looked at the quality of the Dutch metalpak disc? They were selling those off for €5 I think.

True, there a bunch of versions and the choice depends on many factors. Is the art more important than the quality of the transfer? Is it a region one that you can play, etc.
I think it's great that there at least are a bunch of choices. And the Dutch Metalpak was such a stealth release most people didn't even know about it for quite some time. It waivers between $30-$50 on the bay at any given time.
I have not watched mine yet, so I can't speak to the transfer.

2D and 3D are on the same disc but both transfers are awful ( it looks even worse than on DVD) so it's no surprise that some stores are selling the amaray version for only 3 euro or 5 euro

See Gadget I have been bitten bad by the Dredd bug . Never ever have I baught a Blu Ray that I can not watch I have just joined Drums GB

They best people to ask about the disk transfer is @Ashisarobot and @cooey . For me I rate the French , Japan and Neatherlands . However NONE , NONE have English Subtitles .

@Scary Hair - Dredd is a special case - I already have the Dutch Metalpak, Japanese steelbook and Mondo on order - this is becoming silly! Even friends that didn't want to see the movie were ready to sit and watch it after seeing the first few minutes. And good point about the subtitles. I just wish the Zavvi steelbook wasn't so similar to the Japanese...

I've had the US, UK and French discs and out of those the clear winner for me was the French. The difference between having separate discs for 3D and 2D did make difference on the transfers IMHO

I was coming here to say that: Metropolitan's films always seem to have very good transfers, I'm no expert but I've noticed that (and Metropolitan is no stranger to making steelbooks, so they're a pretty cool studio — though in Dredd's case it was a tin, albeit a great one).

I won't be getting this, I have the French tin (the FNAC exclusive one, and as I said, I like it a lot) which has the exact same art, and I'll be double-dipping by getting Mondo's release. No need for a third one :).

Anyone know of any kind of plastic case/sleeve that would protect the French DREDD tin (and other tins that are the same size)? I'd prefer something other than a ziplock bag!

Got all those steels + US amaray for the 7.1 audio on 3D disc. This weekend will try and compare the 3D versions to see which has best video.

You really need to get the Dutch metalpak.

I would suggest buying the french 3 disc collectors tin from amazon france for €17.43 and put the discs in this steelbook. from what I heard about the quality of the uk disc, I avoided buying the uk release, I picked up the french tin recently and watched the 3D disc the other night and I thought it looked amazing, I'm so glad I didn't bother wasting money on the uk one .. I'm going to buy this steelbook for the case alone..and I'm hoping its gloss .. :)

The Dutch cover is my favorite. So glad I got that when I did. They only come up once in a while on ebay, and they are (now) more expensive. Vaako hooked me up back in the day!
A lot of people still don't even know about that one (or a lot of other very cool Dutch metals).
