It looks open now so not much he can do. Although I am stunned on anyone spending top dollar on a rare sealed item and then opening it.

May well have just bought a used version for a fraction of the price

Drive...

It was new/sealed. I opened it to verify condition. I open all of my Steelbooks, it's just how I roll. Otherwise, how do you know if its truly mint?
• If I buy a yellow new Lamborghini, I'm not gunna keep it parked in the garage with a car cover & turn off all the lights, if its for my own personal pleasure.

I learned my lesson:
• I will check HDN board first, before I buy another 'hard to find' tittle.

I'm pretty OCD when it cone to condition, but to me it not that bad.
•If you squint you're eyes, & turn off all the lights you can hardly see the imperfection....:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

But seriously:
•Unless the seller has X-ray vision, it's possible there's no way he could have known.
I could not tell with it sealed:
•When people keep all their steels seales & claim they are truly mint it kinda bothers me. IN my opinion, you have to open it to verify condition.

Thanks for all the help with this my Ninjas! Here's a pic:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Congrats on your purchase NDNS! While I do agree that you may have spent a little too much on this particular steel, as long as you're truly happy with it, then that's all that really matters. But, yeah... I suggest checking HDN beforehand next time (I made a few similar mistakes back in the day - before coming across this site). Enjoy! :)

Ignorance is bliss when it comes to sealed steelbooks and condition. When it is sealed and theres no apparent flaws that can be seen, it is rightfully considered to be New Sealed/Mint. Only when the seal is broken and hidden flaws are found is when the condition grade changes. I prefer my steelbooks open too but sometimes I wonder what my collection would be worth if it was all mint/sealed.

+1 I paid $55 for mine as it was open, but still in excellent condition. I couldn't pass it up for that price.

Nice one! That's one of the benefits of not worrying about whether it's sealed or not... in most cases it works out a lot cheaper. :D

I actually started out keeping my "grail" steels sealed, but I eventually found I enjoyed the hobby a lot more once I opened them all to properly admire and stopped worrying about how much they'd be worth etc. I collect steelbooks, not money (unless I'm desperate). :p

Thanks!! I just started collecting last year, and I also kept all of mine sealed at first until I decided that I wasn't collecting for resale value. I wanted to enjoy them and I would say that 75% of mine are opened. If I hadn't ran out of protective sleeves then the most of the rest would be opened too. :hilarious:

I will say that I'm keeping my Blufans' collection sealed just in case I ever get in the position where I need the money.

If your not sure about a steels value just ask, someone will always give you a realistic value for what you should be paying, at least your mistake was on a steelbook you really wanted and now you have it your happy. Thats all that really matters. I would suggest buying open steels and ask if they are MINT and get them to check first before you pay. You can never be sure whats under the wrap if you buy sealed and open them yourself. What ever happens DO NOT buy iron man futureshop and open it :ohno:

My Ninjas, thanks for all you're comments & support on this issue.

The Great,
I feel like a real bone head for opening this beauty.:emb::emb::emb: You are absolutely right! I mine as well have bought a used mint copy for a fraction of the price. Lesson learned, my man. Thanks for keeping it real.

Noodles,
Cool name, like from the movie 'once upon a time in America'? I'm starting to realize that I did indeed spend too much on this steelbook especially because My intentions were to open it, not keep it sealed. I will double check the ninja board for sure next time! Thanks for the suggestion.:scat::scat::scat:

NkB32,

Ain't that the truth! It's funny, I think that's why so many people prefer to keep their steelbooks sealed, so they don't have to see all those hidden flaws! :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Mental,

I'm sort of new around these parts and didn't realize the amount of support this forum can provide in these matters. With there only being so many listings for this tittle i kinda just picked one. I'm going to save myself a lot of $ & grief in the future by buying opened mint if possible, like you suggested. Don't worry I dont think I will be opening any sealed IM FS copies...too expensive! :movie::movie::movie:

Received this today from CEX.

Apart from a minor ding on the front & a minor scuff on the back I am extremely happy with it.

The ding may of come from the jiffy they sent it in.

Thanks again to Flloydo for the spot.

Nice one! Will you be putting up a pic?
I'm not sure if I would take the chance with cex, I've seen some real shockers in their stores before!

Pics as requested.

Have noticed another small ding at the opening side.

Buying at cex online is always a gamble but had my fingers crossed & am pleased at the out come.

A couple of these in stock at CEX stores fairly near me. Website says they sell them for £45 though. Anyone know if that's just an internet price? Will it be the same price were I to visit the stores?
