I am about to sell a ton of my old dvd's and things i no longer need to fund for a new TV. I think I am better off selling individual items rather than one huge bulk lot. In the past I've just listed each item one after another. Is that the best way to do it, or is there a program that will allow me to create ton's of auctions and save me lots of time?

I'm talking over 1000 dvd's are about to go, so if I want to kill my entire weekend listing them.. What do you suggest? How do you do it?

I tried ebays turbo lister, but so far its taking me more time to use it that just list on ebay itself.

Thanks for any tips/help!

are you a new seller coz over here you can only list 10 items a month if your new to selling. Might be diff in your country im not sure.

if i was listing dvds id do the following...

list a dvd and put a pic ect then in the description put condition, region ect then once your done click "sell similar" and then its just a case of changing pic and title each time as ill assume most of your dvds are all the same condition?

nope, not a new seller. I have over 650 feedback. I just haven't put the kind of bulk on ebay like I'm intending to do, and was wondering if there was an easier way than doing what you suggested. I've done that before, and it is looking like the easiest way right now.

I do need to wait for a free listing period, cause I'm starting everything at a penny.

There's three options you can take:
- Sell in one massive bulk
- Sell in small bulks
- Individual items

The first option is the easiest, less packing, followed by the 3rd option which is the hardest as you have to pack then individually and a right pain in the ass.

In my experience you will sell better selling them individually, but if you want the easier option sell it in bulk, or smaller bulks.

Always try listing them on a forum first.

At least if you do sell a few then it's less to list on ebay

I would still sell them as a lot, unless the dvd is a Criterion or out-of-print or a Disney film. Most old dvds dont seem to sell as individuals. And they certainly have to be sold for cheaper than how other people list them on Amazon or Ebay.

1,000 DVDs x 2 mins to list each one = 2,000 mins (33 hrs 20 mins!) and that's probably conservative! - for me it's more about how much you value your time and if it were me I'd find a wholesaler who might be interested in buying as a job lot.

You might make a few £100 more on eBay, but once you've paid fees and taken the time involved into account is it worth it?...

I think your best bet would be to put then in some kind of bundles. Split them by genre and you may sell them quicker. The problem is DVD values are so low at the moment, it might be difficult to shift them.

I tried the bundle thing. Split 2 lots into two 50 dvd bundles. The first went for 50$ and the second 38$(and then the buyer didn't feel like paying anyhow). I haven't relisted that bundle yet.

I was hoping there was a tool, where I could set up how much to start each one, and then just enter upcs. I was able to enter upcs on the ebay listing tool, but it still made me enter information about each one.

But the more I think about doing this, the more monotonous the task seems. I know I have some rarer stuff, but looking each one up to see what may or may not be rare is gonna suck too. That is party why i wanted to list singly, as many would sell for a penny or whatnot, but some might go for more and bring the average sale price up.

I would just worry about selling your valuable ones - more likely to sell.

No one is going to buy an I, Robot DVD for 50 cents so dont waste your time trying to sell the dvds that everyone already has.

Selling multiple DVD's is really time consuming for what you get back. I got 500 dvd's and most of them are worth about a £1 + delivery. For all that work and competition there is over a £1, and the returns I get, I just could not be bothered. They are all in my boxes and family and friends come round and borrow my movies for free as they don't have a blu-ray player.

DVD's are going to be tuff to sell. Some after paying all your fees you may be at a big loss, therefore I suggest you sell them out of eBay like CEX or Cash converters etc.
Thats an option if your a UK resident.

What I've seen some people do is break down the collection into bundles, mixing popular titles with some that are less desirable.

You definitely make more selling individually, but listing that many items would be a huge PITA.

Also, whenever there's a Best Buy Upgrade & Save promo going on, take in your shittier titles for a $5 credit.

....aren't DVD's worthless nowadays?

Maybe it would be more profitable and less time consuming to sell them to a second hand store.
Probably not the whole lot of 1,000 at once, I doubt there are that many store willing to buy that many, maybe 100 or even 50.

Well.. I think i'm going to just group them in smaller lots, like 50 dvd's each. Going to take less time which is nice for sure. I'll get less overall, but at least the TV i'm looking to get will be obtainable after this! =)

Be completely honest in your listings. If they have any scratches or any dents or any bent or tears in your stuff you are selling, then describe your listing in detail. A lot of sellers don't list the stuff they sell accurately at all. It would be a watse of time for a potential buyer to have to return an item because of the seller not mentioning flaws in the listing. Whenever I sell anything, then I list in detail and I provide actual photos and not use stock photos found on the internet.

Selling dvd's individually is a waste of money and time. You will be lucky to get. 99 for them and that does not count your eBay fees, packing fees, time etc. You can trade them in at Best Buy to get a $5 coupon for each. There is a thread here explaining all the details. I believe you can only trade in five at a time. They run that trade in program frequently.

lool ,

just read this 1 ;)

I have about that amount aswell , and caunt be bothered to do any thing with them, except when I am realy Skint , I take 20 to my Local Second hand shop & they give me $25 for them, no questions asked , so that fills up 1 of my Gas taks & I am Mobile for another week :)

take themn to Second Hand shop , & do a Bulk sale :scat:

We don't get that kind of money for used DVD's in the states, at least not in Maine. When I decided to get rid of my DVD's, I took them to a second hand store and sold over 1500 DVD's for 350.00. That was the best price I could get in my area. And Ebay would just not be worth the time and effort. So I cut my losses.
