Definitely one of the biggest cons in the steelbook business. The same vulture(s) who possibly snagged every last remaining copy of Rush at my local. It's understandable to want to make a profit, but HMV should limit said sold copies to each customer like ES do. Four copies per person should suffice.

Don't even know why they bother teaching kids about sharing at school when it barely benefits you in real life.

Are you sure they didn't pick them all up for the GB? :hilarious:

What they nicked them? The security guard is stood right there in the Arndale HMV so I'd be surprised if that was the case

Yep, apparently someone did it with captain phillips too as someone else mentioned above, just dropped them into a bag and walked out when the staff wasn't looking.

If only that were the case. I doubt it though, as soon as it went OOS, I called HMV and they all mysteriously sold out. Money hungry eBayers latched on I suspect. Could be wrong, at least I hope I am. Some faith in humanity would be nice :)

Anywho, back onto main topic.

It's pretty stupid taking all those steels. Even if they got away, they'd be caught on camera so they would get done for it sooner rather than later.

I did consider getting this, but I really cba to go into town just to get one lol. Bad times.

Local MK store Yesterday 54 in stock
I managed to reserve one as I didn't have my phone with me,got home saw the email from HDN..
Asked this missus to go pick up a few and they where out with a box behind them saying '25 Reserved for HD?' So I have no idea who that was for as she couldn't make out the last letter..
But I'm not sure if it was a 'N'....?

I think this may be the new steel of the year (so far, obviously) for me... knocking Filth off the top spot. We're only in March though, so I can't wait to see what else they have in store for us! :D

Didn't expect much from the film and was still a bit disappointed having rented it last night. Wasn't a huge fan of Asa Butterfield's acting, or the script.

I'm in two minds over group buys now. How would I feel, if I went to my local store and couldn't pick one up because one member picked then all up to send then around the world. As I said, I understand the intention of the group buy is purely honourable, but should we be forced into joining a group buy to get one of these because people are snagging tens of copies when we should be able to pick them up locally?

I can certainly understand how you feel about the situation.

However, this is an exceptional situation and things didn't work out as planned.

As David said in his GB thread:
FYI my local store didn't place my order in time so instead of collecting all copies from one store, I'm now going to have to drive to at least 5-6 different stores. Because of this I'm not accepting any more signups - for now.

As I understand the situation, the plan was to have one store order an extra lot of the steelbook just for the GB, and no HMV store would've had deficit of the Ender's Game steelbook because of the GB.

The only reason I haven't picked this up is because the trailers did nothing for me. As awesome as the steelbook looks my days of steelbook buying for 'looks' are long over :D

yh thats what im doing now to but 90% steelbooks/films i buy are actually blind buys as i miss the films in cinemas so i used to buy based on if the artwork looked interesting or if reviews were good.

luckily for this steel i just worked a trade deal with a fellow HDN member for a couple of more old steels that our his wants for this. helps me create more shelves space as well as adding this lovely steel to my collection. Also, when films get bad reviews i normally watch them anyways as im expect much and end up loving them so hopefully i love this to.

Never go by reviews from jumped up media studies students. If they pan it then it's likely to be entertaining, not necessarily great.

Just bought one of the last two copies at my local HMV. Wasn't going to get it after seeing the pictures here, but it looks stunning in person. Haven't seen the film before though so hopefully I'll enjoy it. Got to get out of the habit of buying bad films for good steelbooks.
