I saw 4 in Manchester Arndale HMV this morning.
Also saw 1 mint copy with slip at Manchester Arndale CEX for £12.
So still available

I think maybe the staff at my local CeX have latched on to the steelbook desirability, loads of amarays not a single steelbook :squint: But HMV had three copies so couldn't resist one.

Is £12 the standard price on these? I thought it was £15.99

How are they £12? Thanks!

They don't have a separate Steelbook code or price on their system so just charge the same as the amaray.

Works well for buyers but bad when you're selling to them.

Only a few items are actually set up Steelbooks on their system. Hope that explains it a bit better. That's my understanding of their unique buying/selling system.

Edit: forgot to say £15.99 is the HMV price for these and CEX are a 'popular' second hand shop in the Uk. I know it seems odd that so many would be in stock at a second hand shop considering its such a new release. I'm not going to speculate on how they've been obtained ;)

CEX is a store that sells second hand goods, sometimes they have Steelbook bargains as like dagreaser says above, they often don't distinguish between a Steelbook and a regular amaray when it comes to price

Sorry to go off topic for a second but the lenticular slip on both the dvd and the amaray release is really nice and would make a super custom lenticular magnet for the steel.

im watching it now... its absolute rubbish.

its like harry potter in space... thats not a good thing in my opinion

This is a great looking steel but movie doesn't quite stack up in my opinion, just wish they always made this kind of effort for other movies. A 'friend of a friend' of mine who works at one of the HMVs was telling me today how some staff have realised (partly through people coming in to buy multiples) the value of some steelbooks, so they are buying them and selling them on. Who knows if this is why these sold out so fast, however its also one of those films that many people may have been waiting for a home release rather than go to the cinema to watch.

Yeah, I think that HMV staff are up to this too. Some are completely clueless bus others know the value these can reach. When I called for a copy of Rush in my local HMV I was told that they had 1 copy left but I couldn't buy it as the store manager was buying it! EEK! (A swift email to HMV head office changed that though! :hilarious: )

Picked one up in The metrocentre, Gateshead had about 8 copies. I'll admit have bought it purely for the artwork never seen the film.

Same here, but then again why not buy it? If you suddenly decide you don't want it anymore, sell it. That's another advantage of steelbooks. HMV's return policy is ridiculous but you'll probably get back the money you paid for it on eBay/Amazon.

Very true. I like sci fi films so hopefully will like.

I am watching this as I type this, and I like it so far. Sure it's not the best sci-fi I have seen, but it is still pretty good. Glad I got this.
