Hi All,

Since we've reached the half-way mark of the year, it's that time of year to jump in and share which releases are your favorites thus far.

You can suggest any Steelbook released in 2013, until December 31. I will tally the top 25 nominations, and we'll once again vote in January 2014 for the community's collective 'winner'.

Upcoming Steelbooks (2013)

Steelbook releases by country (2013)

Sec Sups-please leave in main Steelbook forum for community chat for now. Thanks!

Enjoy!:scat:

Without a doubt, my favourite SteelBook release of 2013 (so far) has been Who Framed Roger Rabbit! The colours, the texture, the artwork - All perfect! I only wish more releases were like this one!

As others here have already noted, it's too early too pick a definite champion for 2013, since it's barely half over.

Of the steels that are in hand (or that I have seen in high quality (real) pictures like Kimchi T2)...

1. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (for basically perfection in all regards). It is a perfect example of what collectors want in a steelbook.

- awesome colors, perfectly executed emboss and deboss front and back, best back cover of any steelbook I've ever seen, excellent inside art, all with a super high quality glossy finish, extremely limited and highly collectible.

2. Kimchi T2

- Very clean and highly appropriate artwork, front, back, inside. Embossed/Debossed. Super nice slipcover, artcards, extremely limited and highly collectible.

And from the upcoming steels that have a chance to overtake WFRR and T2...

1. The Great and Powerful Oz (Blufans)

- Looks drop dead gorgeous all around. Comes with special slips. (but in hand fit and finish remains to be seen)

2. Jungle Book and Little Mermaid. Great front covers, but still waiting to see back cover and inside artwork (and fit and finish quality)

Framed, Perfect!

Without a doubt, my favourite SteelBook release of 2013 (so far) has been Who Framed Roger Rabbit! The colours, the texture, the artwork - All perfect! I only wish more releases were like this one!

Who else noticed the perfect use of "framing" for the front embossed cover section of the Who "Framed" Roger Rabbit Steelbook? :hilarious:

Seriously like "jimmyv" said, in all respects, its a perfect example of what all Steelbook fans want! :scat:

Finding Nemo would probably be my second choice, after Who Framed Roger Rabbit - For the same reasons as stated above. I hope the other Disney releases are of the same high quality as these two - Embossing / debossing makes all the difference, and Aladdin, Little Mermaid, and Jungle Book have the opportunity to be complete fails if they are flat

Forthcoming, the G.I. Joe: Retaliation Entertainment Store exclusive looks spectacular, inside and out, and reminds me of PLAY.com's The Raid SteelBook from last year. The Rocketeer also looks to become one of the outstanding SteelBooks for 2013 as well, and I'm also quite looking forward to the Iron Man 3 one too!

Who framed Roger Rabbit
Finding Nemo
The Last Stand Gold edition
Terminator 2 kimchi
Up Blufans
The Rocketeer

So far my vote for Best steel of 2013 is Best Buy's Zero Dark Thirty :scat:

Unless of course MoS is released with WEA at the same or better quality as ZD30 :p

Like JCM - I would have to say Star Trek Zavvi black version because I was just about to have one of my "eBay episodes" and pick up the original run Play exclusive when I heard Zaavi had saved me from another sleepless night listening to the plastic in my wallet cry uncontrollably.

Credit cards have feelings too...
