What are you using to playback ? I use ps3, i noticed some frame skipping onlyon some lateral travelling, not really disturbing, yet noticeable
Oh I not tired it.
I just read it on another forum. Post about the full length doc. They acknowledged the issue but did not say they are fixing it.

I find it a bit weird that they included a 2 hours version of the documentary on the steelbook release, cause the documentary running time is 3h37 and 2h seems to cover the entire fright night documentary, starting from 2h it does cover fright night 2.
Most of the fright night fans care less about part 2, so why would people want to buy an 20 pounds + shipping blu-ray, just to have an hour coverage of fright night 2, a few interviews and the Simon Bamford things ( which i personnaly think is a total disaster)

Lot of fans like fright night part 2 and is why bootleg blu-ray sold well in USA and only has been officially released in Germany on Blu-ray

Cult following of a film like fright night you have collectors who purchase everything related to fright night from the films to music to books

Collectors double dip a lot with releases like this

Indeed, that is the reason why i bought it, but if you are not this kind of collector it really does not have much to offer for the price.

I (and alot of other people) ordered the full documentary well before Eureka announced Fright Night was getting a UK release so we were under the impression that buying the documentary directly was the only way to see it

I haven't watched the documentary yet but I really love Fright Night Part 2 (I pre-ordered the Blu ray German Mediabook edition) so don't feel too bad about my purchase, that said I probably would not have bought the full documentary had there been any indication that the majority of the documentary was going to be released on another edition of Fright Night (even if it was a foreign release I would have considered it as I previously pre-ordered the Twilight Time 30th Anniversary edition)

Navydavey,
You summarized pretty well what my feelings are ;)

What do you mean with the preordered german media book. The one i do have was released some time ago, is there another one ?

With all the hype this release is getting, ended up watching it for the first time yesterday. Admittedly I am 32 years late to the party, but didn’t enjoy it anywhere near as much as I was hoping.

Personally, I feel nostalgia plays a big part with enjoying these films today, as re-watching "The Driller Killer" recently proved. A terrible film but nonetheless elevated in my mind due to the memories associated with it from when I was younger.

To a certain degree you're right but a lot of films I enjoyed when I was young I still do but some have not aged well. It happens. For example I still love stuff like Them! but films like Squirm I watch now and go "I liked that?" Whatever appeal it had at the time has long vanished in my eyes.

Bigstevie,
You might be right, i obviously can't judge cause i am bucket full of nostalgia when it comes to this one, yet i am aware of some of the nostalgic/ guilty pleasure i do have for a lot of movies, and still, when i try to be honest regarding fright night, i think it is still really good today, might feel dated for some things, but the high quality practical effects still works in my opinion. Like "the thing" for exemple...

Oh definitely plus tastes change over time. I'd like to think mine have refined with age but there's a few stinkers ill always watch if they are on TV. But there's a big difference between watching a film for the first time compared to watching it again after decades. Those rose tinted spectacles make me much more forgiving!

No of course. And just to be clear I didn't dislike the film, just think I was expecting something more. Probably my own fault, always find it dangerous to watch a film with the expectation you are going to love it.

Like you say the practical effects still hold up. They have a bizarre quality that just works within the tone of the film. A bit like The Thing, or Tremors, a film I absolutely LOVE. But if I watched that film for the first time today, it would be something completely different to me.

Sorry I meant the one that was already released, I pre-ordred it as soon as I could earlier in the year - Fright Night 2 like Re-animator 2 (Bride or Re-animator) is a sequel some like and some do not but I personally love them both immensely
