I actually don't mind the price in this case, as at least the films from ES are limited in numbers (far more than Zavvi etc) so will always retain a level of rarity. Though it does surprise me that the print run for this is double what Hansel and Gretel was, which in turn was double Jack Reacher, and yet the price for all of them were the same.

Still, in terms of hardcore collectors, the foreign versions (like the Blufans one) may well be worth more due to the few extras, but in terms of regular buyers or certain collectors then a UK PAL release will always have good value. Some people will only buy UK films, or ones with English slips etc, regardless of extras. so this might still be a handy investment if you keep it sealed and/or mint.

£26.99 is a bit pricey, but when you consider it comes with 3d (which isn't bad in this film), and is a limited run of 2000, it isn't a bad deal. It's certainly better value than Iron Man 3, LM and JB from Zavvi. And you can't blame ES, they need the capital to afford a 4k release for Star Trek Into Darkness. As long as that includes 3d, I'll be one happy bunny.

Well it's almost certainly what they are building up to, but it hasn't been confirmed. If Zavvi had it, it would probably be announced by now. Just an assumption of 4k based on their previous releases.

I don't think Entertainment Store will secure an exclusive for such a high-profile film release. The three they've had so far have all been under-performers. Jack Reacher wasn't at the box office for very long, Hansel & Gretel received poor reviews across the board (some saying it should've been a straight-to-Dvd release), and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, while it did OK at the box office, it didn't do as well as was hoped - Overshadowed by the likes of Oblivion, Iron Man 3, and Star Trek: Into Darkness

Star Trek: Into Darkness would be of more interest to HMV, who seem to only cherry-pick the huge blockbusters for their exclusives - If past HMV SteelBook releases are anything to go by. Zavvi lucked out by securing the Iron Man 3 SteelBook, but my guess is that there will be various other editions released at the same time. Likewise, I expect several different exclusives for Star Trek: Into Darkness

If Entertainment Store are going to secure another exclusive, my money would be on Now You See Me

The chances of HMV getting it are very slim. It's very possible that Entertainment Store will get exclusive rights to it, or Zavvi might as both have released Paramount titles exclusively though Zavvi have only done back catalogue Paramount titles so far.

Entertainment Store have only released Paramount titles so far, so that title is unlikely (though very possible Zavvi might do it). Hopefully Entertainment Store will do World War Z with a 4k print run, that would be fantastic as the film looks pretty cool :scat:

Entertainment store deal with Paramount.
Including Jack Reacher, they have released the 3 new Paramount releases in a row.
GI Joe Retaliation is currently the 7th highest grossing worldwide release this year.
The only two films that grossed more than GI Joe, that have been announced in the UK for steelbook release are: Iron Man 3 and Fast 6, neither of which are released by Paramount.
So to say Entertainment Store cannot secure a high profile release is pure speculation with nothing to back it up.
I'm not saying they will get Star Trek by any means, but nothing to say they won't. And so far they have doubled the quantity for each release which could see Star Trek on track to get a 4k release by Entertainment store.
I neither know or care, just hoping that it is released, and at a fair price.

heads up people just been on there store and there are 13 available now so if anyone hasnt got one yet get buying:)

The 13 are still up. Of course this will sell out, but it's plain to see this has been bumped down the desirability league by the Blufans and Walmart editions. If the Walmart edition comes with a magnetic lenticular, as some suspect, then this is going to look really ordinary in comparison.
