the main reason its so pricey here in the UK is because our government take such a huge slice.
its in the region of 3/4 of the price we pay goes to the government in .A) duty and .B) vat (which is now at 20%) its gone crazy! i started driving around 4 years ago, and the price then was £0.90 approx a litre. it is now £1.40 approx a litre.
the cost price has risen, granted, but for every penny the cost price rises, the price at the pump goes up four pence.
at the latest budget 'they' cut one pence of the duty of fuel. but the rumour is that they are going to tax the suppliers more (so the cost will still rise, as the supplier adds their extra cost to their price)
