It looks decent, the embossing would have been better if it didn't cut into the title though, they should have embossed the title and the outline of godzilla separately.

Looks pretty good. The embossing is kind of weird on the front... how Godzilla legs and everything are just cut off. I'll have to wait for a full package shot.

I'm not a huge fan of that embossing but I bet it will look much better in hand. I think @Apollon has it right - a nice deboss with gloss.

Then you haven't seen enough good matte finishes, there are some very nice matte finishes with spot gloss out there.
Spot gloss helps emphasise a character or text. To me glossing is a lazy design (at times) as you just cover the entire steelbook with gloss, less thought goes into the design. I am not saying gloss is bad as a whole just that soft matte and spot gloss can look a lot better. Don't confuse matte to mean cheap and awful as there are a few different types of matte finishes on steelbooks.

I think the embossing on this item would have been better if they did a custom border and hand the buildings embossed too so you don't get the really odd looking

Oh no, I've got plenty of matte steelbooks that I love and prefer. I know what you're getting at though, many people confuse matte with cheap and gloss with quality. I was just saying I wouldn't want something ENTIRELY matte. Spot gloss on the front and back of this (maybe Godzilla on the front, skydivers on the back) with a debossed title would be killer. They've done awesome spot glossing on Kung Fu Panda and Thor 2.

They chose the wrong artwork to emboss, a full shot of just Godzilla would be a lot easier to emboss without cutting issues, or maybe they should have moved the title up a bit and merged the end of the Godzilla emboss with the text (like they kinda did here)

Higher profile titles. Last announced releases for Blufans were Lego Movie, Gone Girl, Romeo + Juliet, Hulk, and Moulin Rouge. FAC just announced Birdman, Sabotage, and Ghost Rider.

I guess it all depends on what you like, I really couldn't care less about any of those titles from Blufans. And lets not forget about some of the better releases coming our way from FA, Whiplash, Terminator 1 & 3, John Wick and while others slam Sabotage I rather like it.

Agreed! Only Blufans title announced recently I am interested in is the Lego Movie.
