Unfortunately the steelbook is matte but it still looks better and has a better design than the other version. A full gloss could save that other version but I really thought this edition would be full gloss. Steelbook would’ve properly popped


There’s also no title on the steelbook spine. Just the PET slip spine fyi

Not so gutted about having missed out on this one now... although I agree it is still probably the nicest looking release for the film, just not as nice as it could've been had it been given the right finish.

I was adamant the steel would be gloss. That wrap around art would’ve benefited so much from it.

Now watch the other version come out as glossy and white

I'm never adamant when it comes to anything to do with steels nowadays... can't trust a single word anyone says til we have them in hand.

I settled for the CE anyway, but only because I managed to get the 20% code working on HMV. I don't mind the other steel as much as some, but compared to this one it is quite poor in terms of art.

Will it come back in stock though? If so, I might just end up buying the bloody lot at this rate lol.

I don’t believe the finish was shared so it wasn’t down to trusting anyone. I went with my gut feeling. Plus these US releases usually are so I thought it would be

The WOWHD listing disappeared the other day for a day or 2 and then came back. That’s a good sign lol. Same happened with the boy and the heron and it’s been in stock ever since. A few of the steels I’ve got from them sold out in pre order and are still there so fingers crossed for this

I've ordered it from amazon, and I'll keep the order, but I've gotta be honest, I don't love that. The image is oddly positioned, and looks dull asf in matte. I genuinely prefer my Japanese steel. Still, it's obviously better than the UK steel.

Agree, but lots of Japanese stuff looks like that to me tbh. It doesn't quite work, but it's better than the US & UK steels imo.

I ordered all three. US steel and the UK collectors and Steel. Fully intending to cancel the remainder after choosing one to stick with.
I cancelled the US one a while again because of crap delivery, sticking with the UK collectors edition over the steel. My only major gripe, beyond the price of course, is that the B&W version is only Blu-ray bit UHD like the theatrical.

I wake up today and now it says it will be delivered August 1st 2025 and it's only been scanned to receive at a postal in Kentucky. This morning! At 9am???

How can it possibly be tracked to deliver today when it hasn't even been received at the shipper in Kentucky?
