I hoped this would be good, and in some places this film exceeded my expectations. It's like a long episode of Black Mirror, and with all the backstories, and possible repeats & time loops, it probably would've been better as a TV series. Why do they stretch out movie plots to series length, and not make some great ideas such as this into series?
Great satire on today's population though, I just didn't like allusions to 'conservatives' being 'okay' with constant school shootings, as it'sobviously a stab at them with the 'higher class' moms, and them being 'programmed' to thank anyone in a uniform 'for their service' – that's such a crappy joke, dragging on from the dirty hippies of the 60s, and the way it's exacerbated into absurdity in the movie.
Otherwise I'd love to see more 'episodes', and this is a both funny and scary product of our time, that puts up a literal mirror to our society, especially the brain-rotten GenZ and younger.
This kinda reminded me a lot of Shaun of the dead meets black mirror and don’t worry darling. A few things from mirror tbh. Actually quite a lot of the issues, themes and tech from BM was In this film.
It immediately felt like a large Black Mirror episode to me too, but it's also heavily influenced by 12 Monkeys and The Matrix, both visually and thematically.
