And for CEX you'd have to manually inspect it. It's just not worth the risk. Especially for £40!

Not sure what it's like over there, but here, unless you're extremely lucky, the steelbooks are usually in awful condition. They've no protection from shelf wear, no J-cards, and are man handled by everyone who comes in the store...

Oh I totally agree. I have bought a handful online and gotten incredibly lucky. Apparently you can just take it back to a store for a refund if you are unhappy though. I have seen how they treat them. What makes me laugh is the chain on the whole doesn't really care about the steelbooks. I went to buy a shazam steelbook recently and asked to inspect it as they actually keep them behind the counter. The women behind the counter actually took the discs out before allowing me to inspect it, like ***** I could pick the discs up anywhere, if I was going to run away with anything (I wouldn't) it would be the steelbook.

Grindhouse has some absolute banger releases.
Just picked up this Australian Viavision lenticular hardcase blu ray numbered set.
4 discs, with the full Grindhouse version, extended cuts of both movies, a scratch free cut of Planet terror from a newly discovered print and 5 hours of extras on a separate disc.
Probably the finest and most definitive version out there...

I think Nova media WEA steel and the German WWA might have something to say to this. :naughty:
The best steelbook releases are definitely the German and Nova editions, although the Zavvi steelbook is very nice.
Technically the Nova release isn't really 'Grindhouse' though, as its just the 2 extended cuts on separate discs, without the full 190 minute theatrical cut. Still a very nice release though, especially the 'Death Proof' lenticular fullslip edition.
I've owned all of the above steelbooks over the years but I have to say the Viavision hardcase is my favourite...

Is this sold out now? Was it a ViaVision exclusive?
Yes, it was and yes, it's long sold out. There is a standard fullslip edition you can pick up for around the £40-£50 mark but the lenticular hardcase with the character cards and envelope goes for way more...
These Viavision editions are absolute beauties! I also own the Dredd 4k lenticular hardcase which I can't recommend enough.
This edition of Grindhouse is so crammed it's ridiculous and worth every penny, but it wasn't cheap...

I remember reading a review of Grindhouse, stating that cinema was never like this 40-50 years ago...
Believe me, this is exactly as it played out before the crappy multiplex cinemas arrived to 'rescue' a dying industry...
The cinema experience I remember from the 70s and 80s has never been equalled and never will be...
Excuse me for sounding old...

If you own a couple of other releases, you most likely have all the same extras and versions.
ViaVision just moved them to an extra disc, while they were on the same disc, as the films.
