GROO'S iPad/iPhone Tablet Recommendations!

1. Plague Inc (NDemic Creations)

Website: www.ndemiccreations.com
Twitter: www.twitter.com/ndemiccreations

This is a strategy game that I've seen compared to a game called "Pandemic 2, only better". Never played Pandemic 2 so I don't know about that, but it's a very addicting and fun experience.

The long and short is you unleash a virus that you help spread across the world via air and water, blood, birds, insects, rodents, etc. You control how infective it is, how deadly it is, etc and there's a skill to this, because you can't make it too deadly early on because you're end goal is to kill everyone in the world.

To do that you have to infect everyone in the world, and THEN kill everyone in the world. If you make it too deadly too soon, the world will start developing a cure. You can fight the cure by altering your genetic code of the virus, making it more difficult to cure.

This is an excellent game, and at a low price of 99 cents, it's a damn steal! Ndemic Creations is ONE GUY, James Vaughan, and he's about to release an update 1.3 which will be an entirely new virus, gameplay, etc. This will be 99 cents as well because it's not a simple update.

The update should be live on the store any day now.

2. 4 ELEMENTS HD

I have this on the PS3, and when I saw it on the iPad I knew I was going to get it. This is a very fun game, along the lines of a bejeweled type game, but not really. It's basically a maze of colored tiles that you have to clear so to allow liquid to flow through to the end where it'll bring life to the tree, or a waterfall or whatever.

As you go on, there's different powerups you can get to destroy things in your way, or shuffle the tiles if you get stuck. There are four "books" in the game to complete with about 25 levels in each book.

The Free copy you download is in form a "demo". You get the 1st book for free, and to play the rest of the game, the other three books, it costs $4.99.

I think it's well worth the price, and is so much fun. If you like these types of games, then you'll absolutely love this one.

3. NFL FLICK QUARTERBACK

There's a whole bunch of the "Flick" games on the store. Flick field goal, flick soccer, flick football (which is actually a soccer one as well), and yet this one I think is the best overall.

The graphics are fantastic and this is extremely well polished and well done. I got it for free, but it might cost you now. I'm not sure if it was a sale or something, but this game seems like it should cost you.

There's no in-game apps to buy that I have seen, and there are four or five different game modes including two trick shot modes.

This uses actual NFL teams and logos/uniforms as well.

4. Mirror's Edge for iPad. ($9.99)

This final one (for now) is an iPad version of the PS3/Xbox game "Mirror's Edge". It's put out by EA and is a console game brought to the iPad so as you can imagine it's a bit more costly then most apps on the store, and this one is a bit up there in price as it pertains to the apps.

I wasn't sure how they could do this on an iPad, but they really did a good job with this. They turned it into a side scroller, and implemented the ability to move Faith by moving your finger up and down to jump and slide/duck/roll, as well as sliding down a ramp by tilting the iPad in the appropriate direction.

This is the first purchase I made on the iPad, and is loads of fun. basically, as I saw in another review, this took the game on the Ps3/Xbox, and removed a lot of what made it infuriating on the console and made you want to throw your controller across the room.

here's a video of it to see what it's like. It's a bit pricy at $9.99, but if you're a fan of the game on the ps3 or xbox, then I think you can enjoy this.

NOTE: I'll add some more later when I have the time.

It's alright, I downloaded it after you had mentioned it before but the In-App purchasing is a big turn off for me. Why couldn't they just put a price on it in the iStore. I only have a couple of friends with an iPad, all my other friends have Android tablets or no tablet at all so trying to rally more people into downloading the game is quiet difficult.

It is fun to play but it's repetitive and becomes predictable after a while of playing. I agree with Groo, you should download it. It's fun and if you like blood you'll like it. If you've ever dreamed of fighting in the Colosseum this is the closest you'll ever get to it. The graphics are pretty good in it too so you won't be disappointed in that area. It takes a little longer to get some of the items unless you want to bypass all that and purchase those extras from a In-App purchase. All-in-all I think it's a good game.

Reactions: Groo The Perverted
I removed "Blood & Glory" after further reflection. I went in and looked at the prices of the equipment that required rubies, which is what you're pushed to buy if you want to get, and then I saw how much it cost to buy the rubies and at that point I didn't feel comfortable recommending it.

It's a fantastic game as far as gameplay and graphics and mechanics and whatnot, but I really don't like freemium games like this that let you play for free but if you want to succeed you have to give your credit card over and pay real money for it.

I knew going in when I originally recommended it that it did this, but I didn't realize just how bad it was as far as how much you have to pay.

One weapon requires 2600 rubies. Remember, you get ONE ruby everytime you level up, and the two elite tourneys require 60 and 120 rubys respectively to unlock.

A pack of 100 rubies is $4.99 which isn't bad, but considering most things that require rubies are at least 50-60 of them, it's clear this is a system designed to treat the player as an ATM essentially.

A pack of 2000 Rubies (remember, one of these super weapons is 2,600), costs $49.99.

When I saw that I immediately came here and removed it from my recommended list. So there's 4 games up there now.

I'm not totally against in game app purchases, although I'm not really that happy with them, but games like this are horrible in my opinion.

The game's awesome to play, but it's a shame that it's set up the way it is.
