We’re casting a spell and flying back in time to the late ‘90s and early 2000s to celebrate the original cover art for the Harry Potter books!
You should never judge a book by its cover but growing up, that’s exactly what we did with Mary GrandPré’s cover art for the US editions of the Harry Potter books. Mary’s covers were wildly imaginative, with the initial few books featuring exquisite patterns, brighter colors, and more whimsical situations for our wand waving heroes. As the books progressed and Harry aged and the story got darker Mary’s covers took a more serious tone and perfectly conveyed the series’ maturation with darker color palettes and more intense imagery.
We’re beyond excited to be able to revel in the nostalgia of these original covers by releasing the entire set as officially licensed screen prints! This is the first time these covers have been released as screen prints, and the results are pure magic.
