How the **** can this be £49.99!! As far as the slip box is concerned this looks at the lower end of Studio Canal collector editions. It looks like one of their soft box jobs. Ran looks like it's at the top end like The Wicker Man and The Third Man with larger hard boxes with magnetic clasps. If Arrow was doing this it would be in a hard box with a perfect bound book and would be around £30. Studio Canal is doing nothing here that Arrow wouldn't do better with superior encoding as well. Plus most people that have numerous Apocalypse Now sets already have it. I am tempted by this but that price!!

There is no other 4K edition of this available elsewhere

Yep, I know that. The documentary in all other forms has been available for decades and more. Just because it's in 4k doesn't immediately mean this price is wise though.
I may be an outlier but I hope it bombs to be honest. This price for such a well released title and what amounts to a whole load of cardboard and paper shouldn't be normalised. I'm sure it will sell though. I just hope people realise it's a rip off and stay away.

Semantics aside, the upgrade to 4k will be minimal at best. The salient point is that at £49.99, this is pushing the credibility of what is marketable for a title that most fans of AN will have seen umpteen times over. Sure, collector value is most certainly perceived differently and is logistically subjective to each individual; this though is just greedy in my book. £20 less would be a fair price for what's on offer despite it being UHD. What that means for an image quality upgrade remains to be seen, though I'm sure the sound mix will be great.
It just feels like a FU price if I'm honest.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the price point at all!
(And I really dislike the practice of putting in BOOKS to inflate the cost. Booklets are fine, people. (Looking at you Second Sight:bored:))
