Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Just saw this, and no.. Because I thought of Ex as in Exclusive in my Youtube channel, and it wouldn't fit the entire name into this forum, lol. Just wanted something different than "BluCollector".
Also, I'm completely new to steels. Local stores near me- I've never seen the steels that's why I wasn't familiar about them. I saw a video on YouTube and started collecting now :)

Welcome to the big show. It's a hell of a ride!

Help with an order at FNAC FR

Hello, everybody.

I've placed a few says back an order at FNAC France, one item is at stock and the other is a pre-order item. The estimate delivery date of the available item is due to tomorrow: "Prévu le 10/04/2012".

The status of my order is still "Commande en cours de validation bancaire", so should I be worried? I tried to change the payment method, but did not figure out how to do so. I've sent an e-mail to their customer service, explaining that i can't find an answer or the way to do this, because I do not understand French. As a reply, they answered to me "I'm sure the answer to your question is at our help section". Oh, and this answer was in French.

So, is there anyway to update a payment to an outstanding order? I want to pay via PayPal, as it appears there is some problem with billing my credit card.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

P.S - are they at least divide their mad shipping costs for this kind of an order? I don't want to pay twice the 20 EUR fee per order, not for cheap items like this anyway...

With regards to amazon.jp packaging etc, i ordered 7 of the latest wave a few weeks back and they were shipped in an ok cardboard box, but all of them were shrinkwrapped to a piece of card only on the bottom and were loose inside the box. How they made it that far without any damage is beyond me, pretty shoddy in my opinion.

More worryingly having signed up for a new amazon.jp account with my email address etc and noting the fact i have never ordered anything from Japan before, my itunes account with the same address had a dodgy app downloaded and a little later, 2 purchases of 'gems' or some rubbish to the value of £9.98 were debited from my account.

It was a japanese app with japanese text.

Very strange coincedence, i think not. Apple have frozen my account while they check it out and done me a favour by reimbursing me 'the decision to refund these items was made after a careful review of your case. Please note that this is an exception to the itunes store terms and conditions'! Thanks!

Apparently fraud is not high on their priority list. I can't prove there's a link but it seems a bit convenient!

Not trying to put anyone off, just saying tread carefully.

Advice from UK traders please

I have a couple of pretty large packages to send from the UK, 1 to USA and 1 to Canada

My question is which courier company do most people use and which are best for reliability/price etc?

Thanks in advance for any help :D

Hi

I pre-ordered The Thing and Sin City from Amazon.de,end of feb.The Thing looks like its sold out only available from vendors.

Does anybody know if amazon will have a copy for me or will I get a email saying its no longer available. Nothing in my account or open order

cheers

Does www.movies-blu-ray.nl provide a shipping confirmation email before items are sent, or do they just send orders out without doing this? Wondering if my Real Steel and Immortal steelbooks shipped. I emailed Bert on 04/12 but have not heard back.

they SHOULD have your copy set aside for you.
since your order was placed prior to the stock being depleted and only available through vendors you should be good to go when they ship it with your Sin City.
If there is an issue they would def. contact you prior to them shipping it.
At least that is my understanding.

Yes Bert sends out a confirmation email to let you know that your item shipped along with a followup email with the tracking number( depends on what shipping option you choose of course).

Hi guys,

I need some help.

Can someone tell me what the policy is if you want to return a pre-order from Amazon.de?

I pre-ordered Sin City steelbook a month ago however just received the email stating items has despatched. I have noticed I placed 2 seperate orders by mistake.

Can I return one of the package to the postman without incurring postage fee?

Thanks

I think you're gonna have to bite the bullet on this one. A hasty email to Customer Services quoting the 2 order Numbers might suffice but if they've packed it in the warehouse there's generally nothing they can do due to the scale of the operation.

Good luck. Their Customer Services are very good and helpful so if they can help they will.

Shipping Costs from movies-blu-ray.nl ?

Hope this isn't the wrong place to ask this , forgive me if it is - this site in the Netherlands :- movies-blu-ray.nl
On their shipping info page they clearly state that you can get up to 8 steelbooks (2kg) shipped to Europe Zone 1 (UK in my case ) for a set price of € 9,50.
Specifically the info is : -

New safety shipping price

1-8 steels = -2kg
9-25 steels = -5kg
26-50 steels = -10kg

-2kg (1pc - 8pc) shipping in a box € 9,50

Can't get much clearer than that. However, when I add a steelbook to my shopping cart , the price of shipping goes up automatically by 3,50 every book until you get to a grand total of € 25,50 and an extra charge of € 1,50 for using paypal . Even after checking you have selected the correct shipping option ten times over !

I've written them mails asking for an eplanation but they just ignore them. Does anybody on here have experience of ordering with them and know what is going on ?

Thanks

hi Toby, I've moved your post to here. Perhaps someone in Europe familiar with Bert's site can help you a bit more. I know that one of our members, surfury, has ordered from Bert before.

Thanks AP - Bert actually replied to me personally yesterday which was kind. I guess they are busy. He explained everything to me fine. :) The problem was the steelbook I was looking at was "extra heavy" so wasn't covered by the normal shipping rates available for up to 8 pieces.
