Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

This is the funniest thread I have read so far on HDN! Keep it up fellas no matter if you are Colombian, Morrocan, Canadian, Texan, etc :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

You are not crazy Mehdi, you are just passionate about whatever you do! Hence you are DA MAN!:scat:

I just like challenges my friend, that's just who I am. When people say "oh this is hard to find", I do my best to find it, and most of the time I do.

But wait for my next steelbooks haul, this is going to be one of those "once in a lifetime" type of situation. So far I've considered my Iron Man/Indy unboxing to be my greatest, the next one is going to put it to shame :oohyeah:

Sounds epic already. I smell either a sealed JR with tattoo or those China Ironpacks or even both!:scat:

Lol no :) None of these IP's unfortunately, as for the Rambo one, I wouldn't even pay $50 for that. Hated the movie and the steelbook has a printed back, no thank you :(

Nah, I'm just going to complete my FS collection with 7 steels in one shot that's all :) It's just going to be my favorite update per se because I'm getting all of them "dirt cheap" with today's standards.

I have an idea what some of those "7" will be. Should be a great unboxing video. Looking forward to it.

Not going to be an unboxing bud since they are not coming through the mail, someone is bringing them to my place instead (local deal). Maybe no video as well, since I don't have the video camera to shoot it :(

Blu-ray G1 Steelbook List is there one?

I was just browsing eBay and I came across a few never new weRE G1 like German Death Race

Moved your post to here sweeper. I'm not aware of such a list, but this is something that we're working on integrating into our collection manager.

So in the future, you could search our database and find all the ones that are G1 or DVD sized, but are indeed blu-ray discs.

Hope that helps.

do you remove plastic from steelbook?

i was just curious to see whether or not folks keep their steelbooks in the original plastic. i personally like the steelbooks for their design and like to use them with care. on the otherhand, is it like removing the han solo aciton figure from the original packaging significantly reducing the value? anyway, i was just curious to see if others collect for value or personal use. thanks.

I think you'll find that there are all types of collectors here and they fall on both sides.

hi mate,
saw your post, thought id throw my 50 cents worth into the areana.
its a real personal choice,i have a couple of aussie ones ive opened, but primarily all mine are sealed/mint condition....im very tempted from time to time to start ripping into them but from the beginning i chose to go only mint/sealed new & rare ones......there's also a lot of members that choose to use there steels and enjoy them..good points both ways.if for instance you pay $90 for farewell my concubine,do you want to rip into it or keep it in mint condition...good luck choosing my friend. :hilarious:

I open every single one of mine. It may be different if I had paid a fortune for some, but highest price I've paid for a single steelbook is £40, which isn't too bad in my opinion. The reason I open them all is firstly to watch them but second because lots have nice inside artwork and I'd like to see it from time to time. Keeping a steelbook sealed can also hide dents and therefore I like to open and inspect all of the ones I buy. With the number of releases ad especially re-releases of the rarer titles, there really is no point in keeping one sealed to try and retain its value.
