This looks promising… a bit The Substance-esque.
I thought I’d never seen Marlon Wayans in anything besides comedies, but then I remembered Requiem for a Dream, he was amazing in that one!

This looks great. Bit of satanic worshiping to get fame should be interesting and I’m a fan of Peele

Kids from poor families are used to see everyone around them make a cult out of dumb American football, and as a way out of the ghetto life, a ticket to riches and fame, but also as an exploitation of a 'minority' for the benefit of the 'evil white', and this fever dream of a movie is the result of that.
I barely sat through its short runtime, with its nonsensical 'visions' and plot, and absurd sequences that lead nowhere and mean nothing, just constantly quoting or alluding to something 'philosophical' to seem 'smarter'.
The bloody ending is a bit fun, but ultimately cannot compensate for the empty film.
Visually it's very nice, with some good music, trying to recapture that intensity of Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday, but that movie remains 'the GOAT'...

Not really sure how I felt about this. Some parts really annoyed me and there were also some interesting and visually satisfying moments. Wayans was surprisingly decent and nice to see him in a serious role but it didn’t quite hit like I wanted it to. Whilst I like those kinds of endings similar to Ready or Not this one just kinda felt out of place.
