Release Schedule (SUBJECT TO APPROVALS!) - We would like to let you know our direction over the next few releases and as stated above, these are subject to approvals. We are taking on board suggestions of movies without steelbook releases but we need some sort of foot in the market before doing so. However, some of those titles have already been brought up in a meeting today, so hopefully we can progress further with those soon.

This schedule is planned to have full Exclusive SteelBook designs (Not just flipped artwork exclusivity). All would feature the same setup as Shaun of the Dead; Full Slip, Lenticular & Blu Box.

Casino EE 002
Hot Fuzz EE 003
Oblivion EE 004
The Worlds End 005

Thank you to everyone supporting us, please let us know you thoughts on the titles above!!

The 4th steelbook release for this film and the first to have just Simon Pegg on the front which is strange in itself as these two guys go together like bread and butter and should be pictured together where it counts i.e. on the front.
More Abbott and Costello than Laurel and Hardy they may be but a team nonetheless.

Not as if they couldn't fit the two together keeping the same style instead of splitting like they've done . . . and maybe one of the original poster designs could have been used with Pegg looking straight ahead instead of down . . . still keeping the play on the HOT FUZZ title . . . with the police and the fire in the artwork

Personally speaking, not a fan of the tentative artwork but looking at the SHAUN steelbook I can see what they're trying to do with having just the one character on the front and I'm guessing they'll do something similar for *WORLD'S END with just Simon Pegg on the front (if they actually stick with the TBC artwork for HF).

Best position for the title ? Top of steelbook or across the middle as in the poster or even as on one of the other posters ?

EB,

Please show some respect to buyers of SOTD by stopping making announcements for future titles and focusing on shipping SOTD orders.

If this release will be delayed (for some reason), it is going to be a PR nightmare and a credibility issue for you guys. So finish the tasks you got in your hand first and the rest later.

The more and more you keep posting frequently the more attention it gets and it could potentially backfire if something goes wrong.

How are they disrespecting us? My Blufans Dory 1 click hasn't shipped to me yet, despite having a release date of 4/28, do you think all the threads about their upcoming releases should be shuttered out of respect? They have repeatedly said these are just tentative announcements and have no bearing on the work being done on SOTD. How else do you suggest they get the feedback they are looking for if you don't think they should be talking about upcoming releases? It's completely asinine to tell them to stop talking about their releases.

Anyway OT, I don't really mind having the two characters not together but maybe the same style on both sides with a more action shot of Nick would help tie them together. I agree that the title is too high, especially if you want to go with embossing or debossing. As for the finish, personally, I would prefer a matt finish with some nice spot glossing on the characters.

 May as well send that to all FAC, HDZ and BF threads then....

Already tried but as usual fanboys will poo all over and kick me out lol.

Paid in Jan and it is now May. Of course, we have been updated with what's going on and also being endorsed by actors as a calming down measure but if I was running a business, I would sort out the challenges in-hand first instead of announcing something that is in the pipeline and in the early stages as all it does is diverts attentio. Imagine a situation where Hot Fuzz goes Cold Fizz for some other unforeseen circumstances, all this will do is ruin the reputation of the business. To me, one thing at a time is better and somethings are better not disclosed way too early.

Totally appreciate the disappointment expressed by the people who paid for SotD way back in January and are now waiting for a mid May release before they get their goodies but If I was in the market for these sets I'd welcome tentative release threads if only to express an opinion on the artwork, slipcases etc. so that any changes can be made or votes counted before it's too late to make said changes.

Speaking for myself I'd be happy to buy the Cornetto trilogy loose in the style of their Mummy trilogy boxset and hope @EverythingBlu will make this an option at some point in the future.

Hello,

Thanks for your comments.

Not posting Pending artwork for a new release because another release has been delayed does not work for a business at all. This is a very early stage of Hot Fuzz and it is simply to collect your thoughts and opinions. As we have said many times, the design side of things does not effect a release that is near the shipping stage, we're not setup up anything like that.

As for the artwork, we have taken your points on board and the title will be adjusted. The idea behind the artwork and splitting them up along with the contrasting colours/styles is to reflect their contrasting personalities. A very gung ho character of Simon Pegg is reflected in the images used. As for the cool, calm and very laid back character of Nick Frost, we think that art speaks very well for him. As we have said, there is plenty of artwork in the package which puts them together and we think AS a package it works very well which you will soon get to see.

Just a little behind why we have done what we have done. A bit of understanding behind some designs is sometimes needed and does show we are not just slapping images together, there is a thought process behind ALL of our artwork.

Thank you.

I'm guessing that the idea behind the contrast was already apparent to most people (it was to me, at least), but no amount of symbolism or metaphor can make a lackluster design shine any brighter. The contrast just doesn't work very well on a visual level.

Maybe remove the tacky filters? The rain and fire aren't necessary on the front and the fade to white on the back is awful.

Glad you're fixing the title.

Can we see the spine? Is it the same s Sean of the Dead's spine? If the cornetto trilogy don't look like a set (akin to Harry Potter or Star Wars steelbooks I'm no longer interested

That's a good idea - matching spines for all three movies would make great sense, and would show well in a display box

@EverythingBlu I have read your post about why you've separated the characters but I just don't think it works visually (for me anyway).

This art minus the text would have looked great with full gloss

I'm actually thinking about not buying this set now, I ordered the sotd blu box day one but with the steelbook reveal for hot fuzz I'm losing interest if this is the final art. I know you say there will be plenty of other art that will include both characters together but the most important part of any steelbook package is (for me) the steelbook itself.. I've opened nearly every steelbook I've ever bought so that's the part i'm most concerned with when i choose which steels to buy.

If there is no way that you will be changing the steel art (a part from moving the title) could you let us know cos I may cancel sotd based on this steelbook. It's a shame cos I was looking forward to the set but I need to really like the steel art at the end of the day.

Thanks:thumbs:

Hello,

The spines in terms of logo placement will match, yes.

Thank you!

Well said @chunk  I'm not digging this art choice either. Hope @EverythingBlu can listen to their customer base and provide something better.

I hope so too.. and if so it would be good to know before sotd gets shipped.

I like the big explosion artwork with the two characters looking like they're going to kick ass with their shot guns in hand, it's so over the top but matches nick frost's character loving his buddy/cop movies like bad boys and point break and always hoping for something similar happening to him as a cop in his small village/town.. it says so much more about the character/s then the back of this steelbook that just looks like nick is trying to look hot going down a fashion cat walk all on his own:confused:

I've held off commenting in this thread cos with so many people not liking the art I hoped that everything blu would change it, but so far the only thing that will change is the title placement, so I would really like to know if it will change before sotd ships:emb:

Been put off with the last min delay's of Shaun so not keen on ordering this one as a result.

would have to be some amazing art or package to make me change my mind(good package for shaun and this)

@EverythingBlu - you should just surprise at all with the artwork when it IS ready for pre-order. Sometimes you just gotta do it and make up your own judgement. Everyone's going to have their own opinions, positive or negative, you can't please everyone. The safer way to design the artwork is to ask collector's their opinions but I really think you should just make a decision and stick with it. Otherwise it's going to create mind games of what you should do or not. Not everyone's going to agree with the artwork and you can't please everyone. Have some bulls lol

Cool, don't mean to come of negative with that post but I just meant you need to space them out etc and not get customers to pay for 2 or 3 releases before we have them in hand.

There is much competition that are miles ahead that have earnt our trust. If you get what I mean

Manta do it right IMO - one release at a time and pre order don't go up for the next one until the current one is finished and sent out. Same as blufans, nova, kimchi to a degree. My point is don't become the next FAC lol they are too eager, greedy and over saturate the premium steel market

But that art is very cool so I hope the studio give the OK
agree on all parts - dont list this for order until we finally get the last one, Shaun, in hand.

Yes me too. I hope it was their last delay, but at least they always let us know ahead, they are good in communication. Points for that EB
barely ahead - its usually the day or two before its due, we get an email.

Would prefer at least say a week's notice so it looks better on the companies side as it currently looks like they are failing to act a little.
You know a week or two ahead if your going to make a deadline. Least they are letting us know, but a day or two before it was due for release looks a little like they dont know what they are doing.

Plus, not having the option to pay on shipping, means they have had my money for 4 months....paypal wont cover the sale much longer which adds to more issues....

Please sort it out EB - its brilliant we have a local Steelbook merchant but follow Manta or Nova's suit as other members have mentioned.

thanks for the reply but am sure you can appriciate how it looks when you cant get your first release finished and are promoting the next ones?

Your customer base are telling you what would help and keep them coming back for future releases so might be worth taking note?

FAC have a horrid reputation, but Manta dont and are kinda polar opposites(Manta interact with customers on the same level you do, so keep that bit up :) ) - FAC are always delaying things and taking money upfront which are two of the biggest gripes for a steelbook collector. Even the most patient, with the best item finally getting to them, can lose faith.
Most of us want you to proceed - the more premium retailers the better chance we'll have of getting our fave movies with the treatment they deserve.
