How do you afford your hobby/habit?

Just curious to see what the general makeup of steelbook enthusiasts do in their spare time to afford collecting these little pieces of metal.

When I started collecting, I had just finished school and was still working at a local arts and crafts store making shite hourly money. When all those cheap WB steels were rereleased earlier this summer I was excited.

In the past few months I was able to land as job as an IT guy, with salary! Now my problem isn't having enough money to buy the steels, it's having more money and remembering to pay the bills instead of getting all the Blufans and Kimchi releases.

So how do you guys afford your hobby/habit?

I'm not sure how I afford it really, I don't have a budget per month that I spend on steelbooks.

Most of my purchases and sales go via Paypal, which feels almost like virtual money sometimes, as I try to keep the Paypal account enough in credit before I make the next buy.

I find the hobby very addictive. I try to make small sacrifices, like not buying beers EVERY weekend, not ordering the extra bit of takeaway (that never gets eaten anyway) you know, the stuff that's minor expense, but adds up over time.

I have a good job, that leaves me with a little pocket money, once the bills, the wife and kids are happy and looked after!

In a way, collecting steels has made me even more savvy with money ( I said savvy, not Zavvi!) than before, so I guess that's a good thing.

For me its not so much a problem, i just know what i have pre-ordered and make sure i don't forget, as long i know ahead of time. The thing that gets me going though is when BluFans decide to release something awesome out of the blue, or Kimchi, and then they are just like extras which you can't plan for because i don't know when the next one will be announced, but i can't say i'm complaining :p

In all seriousness i guess i just plan for them a little ahead of time

I do something I call Mathmagic, lol.

Kidding, most of my income comes from my job as translator/localizer. I also try to resell any spare edition I have.

I try to go quality over quantity, but there are some editions that are just non-missable fo rme, so I can end up double or triple-dipping sometimes.

Well,it`s my Hobby-I have a good job, that leaves me enough Money to enjoy it-but i take quailty instead of quantity. Max of 3 Steels a Month but Autumn and Winter Season will be a bit more expensive, thanks to Kimchi and Blufans;)

My income comfortably covers my steelbook spending, provided I don't go utterly nuts. I tend to buy the ones I really want though rather than every new release. I'd rather do quality and loves over quantity.

Not been a real collector for that long and LOVING this place, which has increased my wants list lol! I just tended to buy films in that format on the odd occassion. The fact I ended up with Marvel HMV/Play phase ones and things like the Play.com Star Trek were just luck, that I bought at the time.

I can see this place doubling my monthly spends! :D

When I first started like 4 months ago I lost my way. My income not that bad but currency killing me unfortunately. When you change the rate to dollars, euros, pounds I have to pay double or triple. So that's the main problem at the moment. As I lost my way and tried to buy everything I slowed down a bit (I have to!). Now only trying to buy exclusive Blufans and Kimchi release and maybe worthy Taiwan or Korean releases of the hit movies (like Marvel series etc.)

Not sure how it will be in the future as I have marriage plans for the next year (and I have to save up some money).

Sometimes I feel like I pay all that money for nothing because one day blurays will be worthless when new technology comes out. So we have to change out collection all over to catch up things?..

I run two IT-companies and make enough money for my hobbies without a problem :)

Currently on my way in starting a third company with partners.

Right now the pimping business is booming, but with the cold weather on the way it will get quieter soon.

So when business is slow I just give blood. Lots of blood! ;)

Got a few ladies looking for work Zone....:naughty:

Do you need to try them first ? :hilarious:
