I mean the movie is 12 years old now. Assuming there has not been a new DI created since its initial release, I absolutely thought that would be far enough back to justify a new DI.

Granted when I saw the review this morning the first thing I did was check my other favourite sites for 4k reviews and at that time they hadn't put anything up. Now I am absolutely not one to trust only one source especially on something that can be as subjective as this, but films at home really really seemed to hate the 4k transfer.
12 years ago is absolutely nothing in terms films and masters held. The blu-ray of IB is excellent (and in extention the DI), so in the grand scheme it didn't desperately NEED a new master. Which is probably exactly what universal thought.

If it's been released say 2003 onwards, it's likely had a digital intermediate and 9/10 that master will be used for a 4K disc. There are many exceptions, yes, but there are considerably more that make this the rule of thumb.

Honestly studios will not go back and go through the effort of creating a new master unless the old scan is trash (sometimes not even then), it didn't have a DI originally, it's having some sort of special restoration (which is usually publicly announced) or the director etc.. absolutely insists on it.

I'd take some random reviewer with a pinch of salt and wait for a few from more reputable forums and sites personally.

Well I mean mine is coming regardless of what the reviewers say. I always prefer to make my own mind up. I was just making aware there was a review out and what it said. And I always will check multiple reviews for something like this anyway.

Yeah, same here. I only really trust a few sites and even then, if I really want it and they pan it, I'll ignore completely and make my own mind up too.

I mean there are only a handful of 4k review sites anyway lol. And I have avoided T2 due to the reviews. But as I wanted inglourious basterds on 4k so very badly in was an instant pre order for me. Are we calling the zavvi release a premium?

Honestly T2 is nowhere near as bad as most make it out to be. It could have been miles better, but it's also superior to any blu-ray release imo, so it's still an upgrade however you spin it.

We'll have to see these in hand to judge lol but the OC variant looks as close to a premium as zavvi will likely ever get.

It still baffles me how it gets so much hate. It isn’t what it could've been, grain is scrubbed and it is a bit waxy (then again so are many modern films with their plastic like 4k look), but the detail isn't gone.

All I've been seeing on fb and forums recently is "same sh1t transfer, not buying". It honestly makes me think people are just regurgitating what they've heard and haven't actually watched the damn thing.

The 3D on T2 is good IMO
The purpose of the restoration was for a 3D release

Some Kino Lorber releases of 80's and 90's movies I got look like upscaled DVDs, they usually have no extras, and consider that company one of the worst, don't know what one can expect of their so called 4k releases...

Glad I didn't buy any of the Basterds UHDs yet.

T2 looked fine on my telly.

Actually Kino's 4k releases so far have been quite good. Mad Max is great (will be interesting to see how the Warner release compares), The Good, The Bad and The Ugly has some baked-in color-grading problems, but considering the source it's the best presentation available so far, and even Spaceballs is presented in a quality that it has probably never need. But the stand-out release so far has been Hannibal - truly a gorgeous transfer and great presentation. Apparently the upcoming Silence of the Lambs and Misery 4ks are also great, looking forward to checking those out later this month. But these releases are based on great 4k restorations, which unfortunately won't be true for all the upcoming releases.

Ffs. That's the one I liked least, and half considered canceling. Guess I'll be keeping it for now, too curious to see this release.

How does that work? I thought they were limited run? I know that some of the 4k reviews have caused people to cancel pre orders, but there can't be that many right?
Customers cancel orders regularly and this happens a lot this time of the year due to christmas

Zavvi sometime make available the stock canceled before or after release date

Wont get my Hopes up but hoping the CE#2 edition has a better finish than the regular one. At least it gets a little debossing I suppose..

Was live for all to order about 1 hour ago but looks to now to be not live or red carpet only

It's going to home page now when you click on steelbook listings

I don't have red carpet to test if live now or might been disabled to go live again later at another time
