A way around this: (confirmed by retailer thats its ok)

1) Order directly but add a UK HDN members address for delivery
OR
2) Ask a UK HDN member to kindly order it for you

So please be careful when ordering because if you've put an address outside the UK your order will be most likely be cancelled by Play.

So it seems nearly everyone has this scratch so I think its pointless returning as we're all going to get ones with the same or worse.

Hopefully its something they can sort out for next exclusive. It may not be ent. Store fault but then again the shrink wrap on mine is quite strange so perhaps they added the jcards themselves and during this process they all got scratched?
 
Wait until the replacement arrives to send your original back, check and compare and make a decision from there would be my advice. If Ent. Store are sending the replacements out Monday I'd expect them by Thurs, makes no difference to them when the originals get back. I'm gunna suspect that a lot of these will have the scratch on the front as it seems too similar and in too weird a place to be coincidence. Can anyone whose opened theres confirm they DON'T have it? It's almost impossible to see when sealed.
 
Wow this is sounding worse by the post.

Welcome to the steelbook world, Entertainment Store, sounds like they're gonna have their work cut out for them here.
 
To be honest i didn't notice at first, only when i started to see the other posts coming through all day and then i gave it a real good check, wish i hadn't now :hilarious:

I received one with a spine slash and emailed ES to request a replacement and received this email about 2 minutes later:

Hi Richie,

Thanks for your email.

I'm sorry to hear that one of your Jack Reacher steelbooks has arrived with a spine slash on it. Luckily we have kept back some copies to cover eventualities like this, so I will request a replacement copy is dispatched to you on Monday.

Could I ask that you please return the damaged copy to us in the original packaging at:

I also asked Luke if they were planning on releasing any more exclusives and if he could tell me about the print run on this steelbook and this was his reply:

"We do have further exclusives coming up, the first of which we hope to be able to announce next week. The print run on Reacher will be announced on Monday".

I have to admit their customer service is exemplary, I am very impressed with them so far.

I'm keeping mine. It's so faint you can only see it at a certain angle / light. Got to be manufacturing. It will be interesting to see if the BF release has the same issue.

 
Here's my 2 cents...

Having checked I also have one with that really faint line down the right hand side. It is only visible if you look very hard for it, it's under the shrinkwrap and unless you go looking for it you can't see it.

It therefore becomes a manufacturing issue, so no fault of the retailer (who, let's face it, aren't under fire here anyway) and is likely to be on all remaining stock and probably on all other versions of this steelbook throughout Europe (and beyond?) seeing as they are from the same print run.

So, is it worth returning these copies? My view is that the hairline is so faint that it isn't worth returning. When I checked in different light I struggled to see it again, but it's hiding there somewhere. I'm going to hang on to mine as it didn't bother me initially and I don't think it will going forward

But if it bothers you then you should let the supplier know. I doubt the replacement will be free of the faint line though. Just my thoughts
 
Wondering why they had sent out defective copies (not the faint line but spine cut) despite smaller print run. Why not send mint copies in the first place as it a hassle to get replacement or do returns?

I received Captain America with 2 noticeable paint chips. I had to spend few pennies out of my pocket to print out address label and packaging material. One return costs 20~30p and imagine 10 such returns and it is going to leave you out of pocket.

I am still not convinced by this store unless they do something about the pricing. If they are going to price things high then ensure that the goods are in perfect condition with something extra like numbering, special slip, artcards etc.
