I just received mine in the mail today. It has the scoring mark on the spine too but you can't see it unless you look at it with a magnifying glass. So imo this is a good thing. I mean I don't normally look at my steels with a magnifying glass.

More and more of the scores marks appearing on spines. Pretty sure now its a manufacturing fault and not some incompetent warehouse packer.

It may be an incompetent warehouse packer. If they are manufactured and then sent somewhere else to have the backing cards/seal added, then it's very possible that it is an idiot with a knife.

I also think that it could be a manufacturing issue though. I think they've left quality control standards fall. With all the Steelbooks they are producing, it wouldn't really surprise me.

How much effort ha gone into making this look like a 2012 film. MY GOD nothing but a total labour of love by people who care. It could have been done just to make money by sticking it in a steel box.

The colour so vivid the audio spot on in no way could I ever have faulted this film but now it is beyond PERFECT.

For me I never returned the damaged item, they always send me the replacement along with the message like "no need to return the damaged item, feel free to donate.. blah blah..." I guess I live to far and they think if I send back the damaged item it'll cost me too much...
